I'm partial to TechArt for the newer Porsches.

Techart for the body, VF-engineering/Orton for some extra power, and your usual suspects for suspension would be my picks

Remember back a few years ago AutoThority came out to the Car & Driver Supertuner Challenge with a 700hp Porsche?

Tried to find the link...found AutoThority's webpage:

http://www.autothority.com/

Oh here is the link:

Price as tested: $211,556. Hahahhhahahahaha. Wow. I'm not sure that's what the OP had in mind!

Weird that this thread is up, today. I spent the afternoon trying to decide whether or not to buy a cayman s to mod over a long period of time. The techart widebody cayman is so beautiful and ugly at the same time

Reviewing the Autothority page...seems like they offer a number of chip upgrades...for non-turbo cars the prices are little more attainable.

That included the price of a brand new 996TT, at the time $120k or so. You can find the car for half that now. Odds are the previous-generation mods are cheaper as well.

I agree that this isn't what the OP had in mind, though - he specified a 996 C4 targa.

As I said above...they have chips for non-turbo applications which are cheaper (but accordingly produce rather modest results).
