Raced an RS4 tonight...Wow I love the 335...
His car - Dark Blue RS4 - Stock
My car - E92 335 - PROcede I knew it was going to be close beforehand and it was. We took our cars up on 287 tonight...had a car ahead of us to make sure it was clear...0 cars in front of us so none of you street racing protesters yell at us. We slowed it down to 30mph. 1st race) We went on 3 honks...both from 2nd gear...I immediately had a half of a car on him and when I shifted to 3rd I pulled to about a car to 1.5 on him. We shut that one down at 100. 2nd race) Again from about 30mph. He got a little bit of a head start and continued to be ahead by about one car length. As I got up around 90-100 I started pulling on him and at about 120-130 I had a car length on him. That one I might have hit the governor but we'll just pretend I didn't say that. 3rd race) From 55mph. 3rd gear pulls...started out dead even. By about 100 I started to pull away again by a half a car. The PROcede 335 is ridiculous. Usually I do not condone street racing but we have been talking about getting our cars out there together for a while. That RS4 sounds so mean for a stock car. I was amazed to see my twin turbo pull on that V8 Monster though. I thought for sure he would smoke me past 80. PROcede FTW :rocks: :rocks: EDIT: Before anyone asks I do not have videos...Ill be sure to get at him again though. He is one of my fraternity brothers.

Nice!! Glad to hear that a PROcede 335i is just a hair faster than the almighty RS4, which is a real monster...420BHP, but only 317 lb.-ft. TQ (although it redlines at 8,250rpm). So, he's got you on the HP and higher redline, but you make up for that with much higher TQ and lower weight.

Is it me or do most people think (before this race) that the RS4 would chew a 335 up? I really expected to be dominated after 80mph

Just 1 quick press of the DTC button? If so, that means you actually turned DTC "on." I believe this would only help you from a dig...best to turn DTC on for better traction on launch; but not necessarily a roll, btw.

A PROcede 335i has much higher TQ (~ 450 lb.-ft TQ), is lighter, and RWD, as opposed to the RS4's 317 lb.-ft TQ, bulky weight (3,957 lbs.), and AWD (which is great for launching, but a bit of a drag as the speed increases even though it's 40/60 rwd biased).

i dont find this too surprising since it's general consensus that the 335's numbers are downplayed and people are seeing what should be >300hp >300lb-ft tq at the crank...with procede the hp figure at the crank should be in the same region as the audi's but with higher torque

However, with DTC "on" from the get-go, it seems to hook up much easier; so, you're saying that's b/c it's really DSC doing that? That doesn't make sense to me, since I thought DSC (dynamic stability control) was for correcting wheel slippage, preventing side to side skidding like "fishtailing." And, isn't DTC (dynamic traction control) for correcting straight wheel slippage, preventing your car's wheels/tires from spinning like when the ground is wet (and you start out too fast from a light)? I think others should chime in on this.

DSC = standard position, all electronic nannies on.
DTC = push DTC button briefly, electronic nanny stuff reduced. ! = push and hold DTC button. Most if not all electronic nannies off. If you are street racing, leave DTC on at a minimum. It might save someone's life.

You have iDrive, right? What message do you get when you press the DTC button once? Let me tell you: "DTC ACTIVATED, DSC LIMITED". That means Dynamic Traction Control Activated. So, you do have traction control ON by pressing the DTC button once....

I'm not surprised that a procede would take an rs4 easily. I mean the e46 m3 takes an S4 easily, and since a procede takes an e46 m3 easily I would say the rs4 would take the rs4 without a doubt

When you buy an RS4 you are getting Audis flagship sports sedan. When you buy a 335i you are buying a garden variety 3 series.
Reasons why I would take an RS4 over a 335i any day of the week regardless of how much quicker the chipped 335i might be 1. Its very exclusive 2. All wheel drive 3. Outhandles the 335i like nobodys business 4. Has a high revving , powerful, naturally aspirated engine. Sorry guys but the 335i engine is not as thrilling |

i dont think the e92 m3 will be that much heavier than the e92's out now if it is in fact heavier (which i doubt). straight line speed becomes less of an issue as you get into higher end performance cars and handling becomes more important. of course there are exceptions (veyron).
