BMW Announces Price Adjustment in the US

23.11.2011

New prices take effect January 1, 2012

Woodcliff Lake, NJ
– November 23, 2011… BMW of North America today announced a modest inflationary price increase effective January 1, 2012. The Destination and Handling fee for all models will be increased to $895 on that date as well. This increase is less than one percent and applies to the models listed in the table below. In these tough economic times a careful balance was attained between the competitive situation, inflationary conditions, and market realities.

Good to know, will that deter buyers? probably not.
I'd be curious to know what the margin is on these cars anyways.

I know the invoice to msrp markup is quite a bit..

The discounts ranged from $4500 (3 series) to almost 10k (BMW 6 series) for military when I bought my e90 in 2008.

This is a BS price increase. I haven't looked at what the January prices will be for Audi, Merc, et al, for the competing base model vehicles, but I suspect that, along with corporate profit targets, has more to do with it than anything else. Every business seeks to sell their products at the highest price they can reasonably obtain.

Were there some true "market reality," it would affect all models, not just the models noted.

WHO SAW THIS COMING

Reminds me of the 09-10 price hike even though they keep more shit at the factory. Rear seat nets, cargo hooks...

Seriously, there were once four cargo hooks on the trunk floor and BMW only removed two of them? Just enough to make a net useless.

If you're whining about a $220 increase in price on a $40k car, you shouldn't be buying a BMW

Last I checked BMW was a for-PROFIT company.

And lol @ some of the comments here over a $170-300 increase in pricing.

price increase

I hope for those of you that think these price increase are BS are just f-in around. You gotta be out your d*mn mind if you think those prices are bad. For new models such as the 3 and 5 look at what ur getting... big fricken deal destination and handling fees go up $895, your buying a premium car which leads the competition every year. Inflation is inevitable and a lousy 1% is peanuts. C-mon guys, think about it before u write a response to a thread like this... you shouldn't be thinking about buying a BMW if these prices rub u the wrong way cause good luck if your warranty expires and you need to take it in for service. You better be counting those pennies!
