Who uses a treo, starcom, blackberry???
I'm looking into possibly getting one for my family business and I'm not sure which one to get. We've never used one for our business and I'm going to be the guiney pig on this one.
I guess my needs are to quickly surf the web to look up addresses, phone numbers, possible directions, emails. For it to easily sync to a PC with either XP or Vista. Would really like it to run some sort of OS, even if it is windows. We also do a couple excel sheets so to be able to sync those and use them on the go if necessary. I like small and light but none of them really are so the better they fit in a pocket, I don't rock my phone on a belt clip. I'm not batman, I do not have a utility belt . Maybe with a decent camera as well. I have Alltel wireless. I'd go in and question them but those store clerks never know anything about the phones . My plan is up and I'm month to month so I get the phone discount as well. http://www.alltel.com/business/wirel...nes/index.html there towards the bottom. Your reviews will be extremely helpful in getting me narrowed down. I know some of you guys had to have used all of them or had some simutaneously. Thanks Garrett

Kinda just browsing and looking on the website these phones seem to fit? I have no clue about these kind of phones haha.
Blackberry 7130e Moto Q Treo 700wx UTStarcom(I really think I'll end up breaking that huge screen.) Looking at features the crackberry seems to be the least fitting, then a close 1,2,3 for the other ones.

I use the Blackberry Pearl. It is incredibly small and the smallest blackberry you can get. I hate big phones and dont like wearing belt clips. This phone is so light and small that it fits easily into my pocket. About the same size as the razor phones when they car closed.
Awesome phone! |

+1 Software is pretty bullet proof. You'll need to weigh the pro's and con's. I traded off for a smaller screen. I had a UT Starcom, but that thing was freaking bulky. I love my pearl, size of a phone but it can do so much.

I have a Pearl, my girlfriend has the Q, and my roommate has the 650 and 700. I definitely like the Pearl over all of them. The software on the Pearl is way easier to navigate than Palm OS or Windows. That, and once you start using the trackball, you can't go back to directional buttons. Add in the lightweight of the pearl and it's palm size, and you've definitely got a winner. The Treos are thick and heavy, and the buttons are pretty small. Same thing with the buttons regarding the Q, and to be honest, I hate Motorola's because they always tend to break after about a year. The Suretype "keyboard" on the Pearl takes a couple day's learning curve, but once you get used to it, it's extremely intuitive and easy to use. If you REALLY need a full QWERTY, look into the 8800.

I have a Treo 700W through Verizon and a Blackberry 8703e through Sprint(work). I have to reset the Treo more than I like and the Blackberry is pretty bulletproof in terms of the software.
If the Blackberry came with a stylus it would be perfect for me. |

Great recommendations. Now this blackberry pearl is not available through alltel, but it looks very interesting. My contract is up with alltel so I guess I can switch to another provider but our 3 other business phones are with alltel which those won't be switched.
I've also heard or could be way off that blackberrys don't sync well with office programs. Say if I wanna use excel? We use excel sheets for a couple of our clients and I don't know how much I'll need to access them out of the office but it sounds like a good thing to have just incase. I've also heard nothing but good things about Treo phones. Although I saw someone mentioned the 650 is better than the 700 phones. Alltel no longer carries the 650, go figure. I guess if I walked in there tomorrow I'd probably come away with either the Moto Q or the Treo 700wx. Neither of the offered blackberries seem worth it. And I really do think the UTStarcom screen would be broken within 6 months. With that all being said, what other info do you guys have? Thanks again.

I can view Microsoft Word, Excel, and powerpoint slides on my blackberry. Yea the format on the screen is much different than if you were on a computer, but all the relevant info you need from the file is there.
Check out the blackberry pearl's website to get all the info on it: http://www.blackberrypearl.com/?CPID...4,s,&HBX_OU=50 |

Yeah I was looking at the website. I'm liking the phone but I'm turned off by the providers that carry the phone. I'm not a huge fan of T-Mobile or Cingular. If Verizon had it I wouldn't mind the switch and I really wish Alltel had it so I wouldn't have to do anything haha

I have the 700 Palm through Verizon and have been quite happy with it. I'm sure the other providers have this too but I like wireless sync from Verizon. I never directly connect my phone to my computer. Everything is done wirelessly through my wireless sync page. Calendar, email, programs and what not are continuously updated throughout the day. And my wife can log into my calendar to get my schedule. No more "why didn't you tell me you had a meeting tonight?!"

Those look nice. Too bad their not offered in the US just like all the other cool stuff in the world.
I guess I'm going to head into alltel and play with the Treo and the Q and see which on I like more. I don't like either of their blackberries offered and who knows how long the pearl will take to get to other providers. The razr took like 1-2 years didn't it?

Treo Palm seems better than the windows version. The phone does not freeze like the 700. you can get documents to go for word or spreadsheets. Lots of apps you can get for it.
