Street Racers anyone?

So I'm cruising with a friend of mine on the streets of Orlando on a Saturday night (big mistake) and I run into a 350Z (orange, tricked out with 19-20 wheels, body kit, vinyls, and fat dual exhausts) just sitting there on a side street waiting for someone to race. He see's me passing and pulls up next to me.

This was alot of fun, and I had no idea the 335 would be quicker than even a tricked out 350Z, but it was! I even gave him a jump start on me before shifting into DS and stepping on it. He had 2-3 car lengths on me but by the middle of 2nd gear I had caught up. So needless to say I passed him, then a red light brought us both to a stop. He makes a right and goes around the light lol (figures) This got me all hot and bothered so I caught up to him and we did a rolling start from about ~50. Again, I had him right away. I couldnt hear my car over his, but by the time I hit ~110 I had about 2 car lenghts on him before he let off. Apparently he was afraid to go any faster (not me).

Before you chide me on street racing, know that I am 29 and have never gotten a speeding ticket, let alone into a car accident. I am a defensive driver, but I like my speed :rocks: Anyway, Saturday night is "racer's right of way" in Orlando, they cruise around and pick races all night. I picked the wrong night to go "cruising" as I wasnt looking for a race.. but before the 350Z i did trample two dropped and tricked out Integra's that were at with each other and cut me off while racing. Don't ever cut me off. I hit like 135 and looked back and dint see anything for a mile lol This is with 3 passengers mind you.

Man I love this car.

I'm looking for an IS350 to go up against now.. Cant wait to share my experience.. and I cant wait to be able to afford some upgrades (ProCede, exhaust, springs, aero parts)

Too many people die from street racing...please don't let yourself or an innocent bystander be the victim of a stupid act.

"Before you chide me on street racing, know that I am 29 and have never gotten a speeding ticket, let alone into a car accident. I am a defensive driver, but I like my speed "

It's only Wednesday but I can say hands down that was the most idiotic thing I'll hear this week. So no speeding ticket, let alone an accident, automatically qualifies you into the immortality club? wicked.. does that mean I belong too? great, do you guys have club jackets like in the Masters?

"Anyway, Saturday night is "racer's right of way" in Orlando"

That comment has so much loaded ammo I won't even bother haha.

Our cars are engineered for greatness. But all the technology and $$$ we spend will never compensate for the mushy thing between our ears.

Garage List
As a high performance driving instructor..I will chime in here...take it to the track buddy...with helmets..and fire extinguishers...and emergency crew...no innocent bystanders...and people telling you how to drive safely. Ever get a ticket for street racing/exhibition of speed/wreckless driving....or for over 100 mph...just wait until you do.

You said 2 other people were in the car with you, when you went all the way up to 135 mph?

Thanks for the concern people. You are all RIGHT. I should not be street racing. I cant help it sometimes. Sue me.

At least I never drink and drive.

One question: Why have a fast car if your gonna drive like gramps all the time? What pisses me off is seeing a dude driving a Corvette at 35 mph on an open road/highway.

Anyways, I apologize for street racing and possibly endangering people. Not gonna change my driving habits though, they havent failed me once yet.

WOW, like S4 said, take it to the tracks and do it where it counts. And if you must, run a canyon during night time when there are no cars around. Remember, you have a BMW...meaning it's also good for the twisties...

My friends in exotic cars drive at speed limit, as they put it "what's the point of trying to race on the streets? I drive a 6 figure car, I have nothing to proof to anyone."

So sad that you won't be changing your ways, sometimes the only way you learn is from a hard and cold lesson. You may want to go look at the laws on street contesting in your state..you may be surprised to see that it's not as light as a slap on the wrist as a speeding ticket.

I've had friends who got arrested with speed contesting before, spend $10,000+ on attorney fee only to get the sentences reduced down to suspended license, community service, and 3 points on your record. If they were to loose, it would be jail time for them.

Your life, your choices, just don't be an idiot and endanger lives of those around you.

Point taken Gotta find me a track around here..
and for the record I only let loose on open road, not in traffic

Yes street racing is bad, but all you guys talk about topping out your cars at 155 n shit, and how is that any better than going 135???? so everyone's arguments are hypocritical if you just stomp on this guy and not the ones who brag about topping out their cars. So.... congratulations on beating a tuned 350z, but maybe next time not race with 3 passengers.

I stomp on all rice behavior I see. It touches me on a personal level because of the people I know or knew that have been effected by this type of action.
