Nashville, TN vacation *lots of pics*

Over the long-weekend I went to visit Nashville for a mini-vacation. It was about a 9-hour drive, so I left on Friday and came back on Tuesday. That left enough time for me to check out what Nashville has to offer. Overall, it was a lot of fun except for the cicadas and the brutal, record temperatures. This was my first time using Lightroom 3 for post-processing, so I hope you like it.

Nice pictures. I like that Pinnacle building that almost looks clear (I assume it's angled to the sky).

I don't think I've been to Nashville since I was a little kid...when my grandparents took me to the Grand Ole Opry. Talk about your good times...

History channel's Gangland paints a pretty horrible picture of that city now.

Thanks. I thought Nashville was really nice, except for the swarms of cicadas. I probably didn't venture into the bad parts of town, but everything I saw was much better than in Cleveland. That Pinnacle building was my favorite... it looked translucent with the sky as a backdrop.

I actually didn't see the War Memorial this time. How was the show? I liked the album but haven't seen them live before.

Thanks Tim. One reason it was taking such a long time for me to edits these photos is partially due to the dust spots... hehe. But I think I got most of them. I'm finally getting a little used to LR3 now, so it's going a little faster.

Btw, I have Day 2 photos up now, mainly from visiting The Hermitage.

Yeah, it was fun... hot as hell that weekend, but fun. The only plantation we checked out was General Jackson's at The Hermitage. There were some other plantations nearby, but we didn't have a chance to check those out.

That's cool. Maybe I'll catch them the next time they come to Cleveland.

Closeups of the flowers look decent considering you didn't use a macro lens. 51 looks a tad grainy though.

My wife loves to go to plantation homes...I think the best one I've been to was George Washington's, but like your trip, the heat was killer that day.

Picture 20 must hold a soft spot in your heart...beings you posted it twice and all

Looking forward to seeing the rest...

Haha, thanks. I bumped up the sharpening quite a bit on 51. Taking photos of those flowers were tough, because it was windy and this was taken handheld.

I want to go to Mount Vernon some day. It looks awesome.

I fixed picture 20 To be quite honest, that was the best place for breakfast I've ever eaten at. The crepe and croissant french toast were amazing...

Topaz makes a plugin for PS called DeNoise. They run a 30 day trial on it...give it a try, it will clean that right up.

I'll see if I have a Mount Vernon pic to post in the daily section.

Nice shots, Chewy. Looks like you hit peak blooming season. And that Pinnacle building is bizarre. It almost seems like an aviation hazard. Although maybe the reflections as seen from the air make it easier to see.

That's cool. I don't think I've heard of that plugin before.

Thanks man. Yeah, it was really beautiful on the plantation there. That building is really weird. It's like they only used glass and no concrete, other type of beams, etc.

Thanks Matt. Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to edit Day 3 pics.

There's a whole collection of different things Topaz has...I use Topaz Adjust a ton...but many complain about the over saturation or cartoonish like affects it can give. I'm currently running trail versions for lens affect and focus...but I don't think I'll get either of them.

The run full 30 day trails on all their products...it's worth the try. DeNoise is a really useful tool. (Besides, would I steer anyone from Cleveland wrong )

I was there about 6 years ago and really liked it. Everyone seemed really friendly and I've never seen so many hot blonde chicks in in one place in my life.

Yeah, I know... that's exactly what I thought while I was down there. Hot, blonde chicks everywhere... they were also wearing either jeans or really short skirts with cowboy boots.

It's like getting suggestions, help, recommendations from a Meechigan fan.

If you get a chance, stop by the B&H superstore in NYC. Very cool place. And don't be afraid to ask about used lenses. You may be surprised what they have. That's how I got my 85mm f1.8.

Take note of the hours, though. Closed on Saturday, open on Sunday.

haha, i should probably avoid at all costs!!!!

but we know that's not going to happen....

I really want to find that huge toy store, i missed it when i was down there in the fall, i was really disappointed in myself for missing out.

I think my friend and myself are going to stay in Jersey City and just hop on/in some sort of transit system to avoid the nasty in city hotel prices... should make things more enjoyable i think (and save me money for B&H)
