300c SRT8 vs. 335i - a post from the 300c forums
What's up all. So my cousin belongs to a chrysler 300c message board and he showed me this thread yesterday. I know 300c's have been mentioned on our message board before... well it looks like 335i's are being mentioned on theirs as well. I apologize if this is a re-post but I don't think it is. Look forward to hearing everyone's thoughts on this...

I just read it and you know what....I call BULLSHIT. Lets go by the numbers for a sec. Caranddriver says it goes 0-60 in 4.7 and 1/4 in 13.3 with one person in the vehicle. Tested 335's do 0-60 in 4.8 and I cant remember the 1/4 time with 1 driver.
Now THIS guy says he had his entire family in a 4200lbs car and just blew by the 335? Plz. People come up with such bullshit, its unreal. Tell your cousin that his car is garbage and all of those German haters need to remember where their drivetrain comes from.

If you read some more of the posts someone asks the OP if its was a 335 or 328. The OP states he read the 335 on the back. But if you read his original post he says that the BMW pulled up along side of him at the light. Some thing is fishy! And if it was a temp tag on the BMW, why would you be racing already?

I call UN-BS. I believe it probably happened like he said.
SRT-8's are very fast. I almost pulled the trigger on buying one last year. Plus, this was 1 race from dig to a low speed. Chances are the 335i coupe driver left DTC/DSC on and killed his dig. Temp plates mean he wasn't broken in yet, perhaps his tires were even still covered in that plasticky top later, and he probably was not yet familiar with the car! I believe, stock for stock, the 2 cars are almost dead equal in a straight line, making it a driver's race. |

It is BS
He had his whole family in the car! If it was stock for stock with 1 driver in each, then yeah I believe they're equal in a straight line, but this guys wife says "take him down" and he proceeds to beat the that 335. Come on. The car is already 4200 pounds, how much would a family add?

Both drivers are morons IMO. This one guy got his FAMILY in the car and street racing? Second, mr. 335 just recently got the car and he's already gunning it? Way to break it in dipsh!t

he said he beat the 335i by a car or so.... maybe the 335i driver sucked, plus the srt8 is a huge engine with alot more horsepower... i find it possible that he beat a stock 335

Torque + auto = 98% accurate repeatable launch.
As much as everybody wants to believe their 335s are the fastest thing on the planet, torque makes up for a lot of weight deficiency in the short term. There's just so many variables there that it's easy to see a 335 loosing to a SRT8. Was the 335 a manual? Did he screw up his launch? Was it a step? Did the dude leave it in D instead of going to sport and launch in 2nd gear? Did he leave traction control on and that kill his launch? Was he just an complete idiot? (probably if he was racing with a temp tag) Is the whole story BS? ... quite possibly. But could it happen? Most definitely. And for those of you calling BS just because of seeing the model designation on the back ... even a BMW driver can do a "ricer fly-by". |

lol... if the guy is a dumbass driver... its not really a kill... its more like a as the driver does not realize the potential of the car... nor knows how to use it--not that you should race anyways.

Don't be so quick to call BS My friend has SRT8 330c and those car are fast as HELL!! only mod he has on his car is an exhaust. He does 170 in that car and we were at a recent meet with M5board members, if m5 owners can give that car respect then what are entry level BMW owners calling it a POS for. The car was right up the with the m5s. I'm not covering up or anything but to say that car isn't fast is just nuts. Sure as hell faster than my car when I hit the limiter at 155!
Here is a clip of the last M5board meet couldn't get 70% of the film shot that day very disappointing to say the least.

I liked the 300C when it first hit the streets a couple of years ago. It was different. So much so that it was almost cool! Now I think it is a simply a big huge caricature of itself. Every one I see here around Baltmore is pimped out on chrome 22s with a stupid Bentley looking grill. Even the one zorst V6s do it. I think it's mandatory once you buy one: dubs, grill and Season 4 of The Sopranos on DVD.
My bud has the Charger SRT8. That's the way to go. Or the Jeep.
