i beat a carrera!!!
im sorry i kno i post some threads sometimes about me racing, and i never have a video. and some people really frown upon street racing. BUT I AM SO PUMPED RIGHT NOW! im so excited. i was on my way home wen i noticed a porsche ( i could tell by the break lights) was driving kind of aggressive. so i got up behind him in the turning lane. while he was turning he took off, those things can really turn fast! i took off after him and i caught up to him when we were doing about 110mph. As soon as i noticed i was going that fast i braked, i had already gotten about half a car in front off him so i slowed down. then we came up to a red light and i was just rolling down my window to say whatsup, and the light turned green. he got a little head start because i wasnt paying attention. this time i creeped up little by little until about 120, were i was he was right at the back of my car...
anyways we turned again and then i turned into a gas station and he followed me. we got out of our cars and he was like what do you have under the hood!? i was like nothing, bone stock. it comes with twin turbo stock, 300hp, 300lbs tq. he was amazed! he told me to pop the hood and rev it so he could hear the turbos. then we went to his car, it was a porsche carrera conv. tan interior, dark blue exterior. he had a new exhaust put on it, a chip, and a cold air intake. and 19" rims. REALLY nice! very nice set up to. he told me it came 280bhp stock, and its now about 360bhp. we talked for awhile. he said hes going to trade it in for a turbo, and i know there is no way in hell my car keep up with that.. i thought some people would like to know how the e92 335 stands against a carrera enjoy! -matt |

Ya sounds like the Carrera guy was full of bs. A chip, intake and exhaust gave him 80hp on a NA car? Doubtful unless it comes stock with .2" exhaust piping, butane heated intake and an ECU tuned by cavemen.

I went to a local coffee shop and the guy who handed me my coffee had the exact same 330i as me, except he had a manual and I have the step, I said I had the eisenmann exhaust, then he goes " yeah me too! " I pulled up next to his 330i, it was a stock exhaust. Goes to show you that all people talk bullshit. |

No I'm not doubting whether or not he had the mods, chances are he probably did. I was just pointing out his ridiculous hp gain claims.

I am very impressed by the 335 and to date, it might be one of the best all around cars BMW (perhaps anyone?) has built to date. I saw one on the road the other day and pictures just do not do this car justice by any stretch. It really is a stunning car.
With that said, I'd be curious as to what year and model the Carrera was. From the numbers, it looks to be a 993. However, I think he might be overstating his HP number by quite a bit. I don't see how an exhaust, CAI kit and chip can add 80hp. A chip, at best, will add 10-15hp from an NA engine. CAI might add another 5-10 and perhaps another 10-12 for the exhaust. Plus, it is not as simple as adding up the numbers because it is not known when those increases are added in the HP curve. I think he is more towards the 300hp mark than he is towards the 360hp IMO. Nice writeup |

wow, base carrera run to 60 in like 4.2 or something. The carrera's driver was either not up to a task or 335i is a real sleeper.
Awesome kill.
