MS-Dos command help

Just wondering if there is anyone with experience with writing commands on MS-DOS. I have this program that deals with the FT-IR. The program usually takes 10-20 minutes to scan a particular substance. I would want some sort of noise to alert me when the scan is finished.

I contacted the tech support and they told me I need to write some sort of command in MS-DOS. I tried using [^G] in the batch file but did not work.
