Ugh, I'm really tired of hearing about the GTR. I hope another production car surpasses its record asap.

Unfortunately, this new GTR wasn't quick enough to beat the 911 Gt2 RS, ZR1 and the Dodge Viper. I guess they will be going back to the track

When the GT2 RS costs 2.5 times the amount of a GTR, its not surprising the the difference in the laptime. Imagine if they put enough into it for it to cost $250k, what a car it would be
Don't care what brand it is, the lap times the GTR puts down is incredible. |

Oh wow, totally forgot about the other three lap times lol. The talk about the GTR's initial 'Ring record a couple years back completely killed the buzz about laptimes for me.

Until there is some kind of standardization process as to how these cars are accomplishing such times... it doesnt matter. Its like comparing apples to oranges.

Good for the GTR for making the other car companies raise their game! I would still take a gt2 RS any day or even a gt3 (closer in price)

I used to think that way too, until a friend gave me a ride in his GTR at an autocross event. My god, that thing is a monster!

the porsche did 7 18, in one lap and it was wet or moist(i believe), basically not under the best conditions.
Porsches driver said there was plenty of room to improve on the 7 18 time |

But is it as connected and is it as good a driving experience as a Porsche 911...or (judging by reviews) a 458 italia? Is it as aesthetically pleasing as a 911? I know its price...but price aside for a moment. Value wise of course...it is amazing. Performance and technically brilliant. The most fun I've had in a car was a 1991 honda accord and a 328i rear drive bmw both 6mt...its not about power for some people. |

It didn't have the record and doesn't currently have the record. Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR has had it for a while - 7:22.10 Recently beaten by the 911 GT2 RS - 7:18.00 |

Driving feel... I wouldn't know. The lack of a manual transmission is disappointing though. That said, the F458 does not have one either. Even though I have driven that car, I still am mixed about its looks too. I certainly won't complain about its go-kart handling. Otherwise, the GT-R is a great car for the money; I just hate how a lot GT-R threads turn into ess-storms. 6speedonline is a perfect example of that. I would love to at least drive one, one day. I didn't really like the looks of my 350Z back when I had one, but it was fun for the price I paid for. I would assume the GT-R would do the same for me. Speaking of most fun... I did have an ess-load of fun in high school when I had to borrow my aunt's 90's Mitsubishi Galant... I want my next car to be light as hell. |

Look I know where the 6speed guys are coming from. They don't have the financial restrictions GTR buyers may or may not have. They often do have 911's, GT3's etc...and whether you like it or not, (I personally think the 911 is an ugly frog)...it is just about the finest handling car on the planet that is mass produced short of the Ferrari 458 Italia (esp the GT3 variant of the 911). 6speed is full of driver's who are more mature than people here and prefer handling over straight line bragging rights that really only matter on the autobahn or the track. 6speed drivers who track are about the experience, not all about the time. ^^ which is the right thing actually, its more mature, and thats what they are. Hence why I don't like the GTR, just not a driver's car...technically great, but meh. And yea it doesn't look great, but for 80 000 dollars, no car is really stunning except mayhbe Jaguar and Porsche (barely). But thats why most people knock the GTR...its not a true driver's car...even with a manual its just not as evolving as a proper sports car, and obviously it doesn't have the luxury-sport status that Porsche and Ferrari command...it is a Nissan and doesn't have a prestige/lux badge. Plus it looks kinda ugly. All these things matter in vehicle ownership...you want a total package. (which if the 911 were good looking, broader, and had the engine in the middle -- IE. Think R8 with RWD) then it would probably be the best car ever made. But its ugly, engine in the back...and hence why it is not the finest ever made. |

On Friday, 2:14PM, August 7th, 2012, the GTR's computer became self aware, human decisions are removed from throttle input, the GTR began to learn at a geometric rate. In a panic they try to pull the plug...
