Bicycle - Road Racing
Curious if there are any other members here that ride or race road bikes.
If there is enough interest (post where you're located) and we can possibly set up an informal group ride. I've been riding for over 15 years and currently decided to race again and currently hold a Cat3 license. Ronin416 (Central California) |

Began racing road and track in the mid 70s and still do a little racing today. Posted a few pics. One from the local velodrome and another from the Vandedrome, which is a portable track, 180 meters in length and banked 53 degrees in the turns.

Nice pics, sounds like a lot fun riding a velodrome with that banking and length.
I've rode similar here http://www.forestcityvelodrome.ca. Its crazy when you look to the right and see the others guys crank at your face, lol. |

I'm a road rider, no racing yet though. I think I might try crit next year - I'm recovering from several different injuries (going back to grad school being one of them) and just base building right now. Hoping to be comfortable riding 50 miles this summer at 17mph pace (by myself, we know what pace lines can do to distance and time...).
Respect to the first who can say what I ride... ![]() |

Got my first road bike (since I was a kid anyway) in 2005 and been riding regularly since.
Last year was my first year of Cat 5 racing and was steadily improving until an accident in July ended the season for me. Was improving in crits by doing those with some regularity. Only one time trial and two road races. The time trial wasn't bad at all for first time and just throwing aero bars on my road bike. Road races are not my thing though - don't have the build or fitness for the climbing. Gave cyclocross a go in the fall. Was terrible but had fun. My first race of this season will be Sunday - a crit in a local park. Haven't trained this year as much as I should have so we will see what happens.
