Exotic car salesman arrested after Cops see YouTube test drive videos
I remember these were some of the best test drive videos on Youtube. Turns out the salesman posting them got in some serious trouble, he was arrested after someone called the cops and told them to check out his driving on Youtube...LOL!
This video is hilarious: http://www.automonster.ca/?p=1345 |

lol I love how in the video they say "you don't need to break the law to get a rush from a high performance vehicle".
In the U.S., yes, you do, but being stupid about it is a whole nother thing. |

Even though it was retarded and douchebag move for the salesman I don't see how a cop can arrest someone without proof of how fast he was actually going. I can record a video and say I am going 200 MPH am I going to get arrested too?

They didn't charge him with speeding, they charged him with careless and reckless driving. Based on video evidence, yes, they can arrest him for that.

Wow, that sucks! I was wondering where all the youtube videos went. He had some great reviews of some amazing cars - even had a few great phrases (from what I can remember), like ," Ok kitten, shall we drop the hammer?"

Really if you think about it, the speed he was doing was not the reason he was caught. It was a combination of self incrimination, saying "that was 150", and camera work that backed it up.
There are many test drive videos out there, look a Jay Leno...He speeds in all his sports car test drive videos. The camera work and the fact that he never says how fast he was going keeps him out of trouble. Also all the "fly by" videos on you tube, those are all fine cause no one can determine the actual speed the car was travelling, even if it looks fast. If this salesman had the camera man take only the interior of the car when he was speeding and passing cars, so you could hear the engine however not see the road or his speedometer everything would have been fine. The lesson really is it's ok to take fast test drive videos, however to edit them properly to not show anything illegal. |

he deserves it for being stupid enough to post videos like that... everyone does it but no one goes up to a cop and says "please arrest me, i just sped down that residential lane"....

I'm just so ashamed of most comments on this thread.
Speeding isn't the problem. But reckless speeding with other traffic around is. KEEP IT ON THE TRACK! Need your speed rush, go to the track. |

They can arrest for speeding using simple math. R=D/T. They know the road he was on and they can go out an take measurements on the road using the markers in the video like the intersection lights and buildings. Not hard to do.
Plus he admitted to it on the video. They can easily prove his speed. On another note. How in the world does this asshole still have a job at that dealer? They let him beat brand new cars like that, endangering peoples lives more than once and that asshat owner says "He has been reprimanded"lol I worked for a car dealer years ago and they would fire anyone who drove the cars like that.

Most of the videos the guy floors it as soon as he gets on the highway...then he is off the gas and takes the first exit off the freeway.
Some of those cars can break the speed limit in first gear...speeding is going to happen to test them out no matter where racetrack or highway. The way the videos were shot is the issue...obviously he was going over the speed limit and with speeding you are going to pass cars. I personally don't think he was reckless. He was speeding yes, not reckless though. Passing on the right side is common when you have a guy doing the speed limit in the passing lane and will not move over. Also whenever you proceed to pass someone you are most likely going to have to go over the speed limit to pass. That is not being reckless. When I was selling my 300zx twin turbo, I had a lot of guys show up saying they were interested and wanting a test drive. I let a few drive and sure enough they all did the same thing once we got on the highway. Floored it to see what it did. That is just how you test these cars...LOL! Watch Jay Leno's test drives on Jay Leno's Garage and see what he does...he floors every single one of them...and no doubt speeds but you don't see it in the videos. |

I subscribe to their YouTube channel... I was hoping they didn't get caught because they were fun videos. Some dbag got a couple of their videos taken down already, like one of a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport he reported to Bugatti and they made them take it down. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy.

Going 150 in a residential area is. Why do you need to go over the limit by 80 to 100 miles an hour to pass someone? |
