Alarm on 325xi

New to the forum. Just bought a new 06 325xi. Surprised to find out that it does not have an alarm system. Is there anyway to get rid of the little red light under the mirror? It is there for the alarm????? I am afraid to try to just remove and put a cover over the gap. Anyone know how to remove the bulb cover??

The dealer said the alarm is a dealer add on. I do miss the ability to hear the 'beep' when I lock it--otherwise the BMW is certainly a step up from my Nissan Sentra.
