how do you get over a serious ex girlfriend?
i was with this girl for 4 years, thought i was going to marry her. turns out she was getting extremely possessive and didnt want to wait to get married ( i wanted her to finish up with nursing school before asking her the question). she got defensive so i let her go. a few weeks goes by, we talk off and on, and recently she got very ill with a kidney infection. i was going to bring her dinner to her apartment but she kept saying no no, shes not up to it. Turns out she's dating some "pretty boy" now and her friends gave me the low down that even though she was saying she wanted to work things out with me, she doesnt want to.
So now i need to completely put her out of my mind, buts its really hard. how do you get over someone? I'm going out on a date tonight with this girl i've known for a while, but im not like "excited" about it, i miss my ex |

it's a tough situation, but unfortunately there is no real answer. It will take a combination of being strong, talking/surrounding yourself with those close to you, and maybe even getting out on some dates to see where your head is at.
Good luck......... |

Time heals all....
This is in addition to recommendations from the previous posts. There is not one magic formula, I'm afraid. Just suck it up. Life goes on. If you believe in that sort of thing, everything happens for a reason and sometimes its not clear why somethings are happening but all will be revealed, just have faith. GL.

Try to keep as active as possible. Get to the gym, go running, etc. Physical activity keeps your mind distracted well. Don't sit around thinking about it, it'll eat away at you. Get out there and start meeting new people, having good times..

I feel your pain my brotha! I was dating this girl for about 3 years and I thought she was the one...until one day I caught her holding hands with her best friend. Did I punch the guy in the face...nah! It turns out that once news spread that we broke up SO MANY girls came up to me telling me that they never liked the "BIATCH" and I ended up hooking up with so many of those girls. So for me...breaking up with her was the best thing that happened to me!
So keep your head up my brotha!!! It's going to take some time to heal. Later down the road you might end up having some ex-sex but don't let it get any further then that! She F'd you over and that's the best playing card you have against her. If she comes crying to you just slap her over the face with your hairy bean bag and kick her to the curb! Play on playa...and keep that pimp hand STRONG!!!! |

It's a tough thing. I've been there. You think for a while, there is absolutely nobody out there who can compare to your ex. And then, one day, when you least expect it, you find that one person who makes your ex look feeble.
Trust me, it'll happen. |

by being depressed about it, all you're doing is letting HER win.
one of my most important rules in life is this: NEVER EVER EVER love a girl that doesn't love you back. my advice to you is this: grow a pair of balls, there are billions of women on this planet. she doesn't love you. she's not "the one" you thought she was. FORGET about her. sounds harsh, yes, but the typical emo psychiatrist remarks don't work. the only thing that works is to be a man about it. you don't wanna end up like this *** do you? http://keltarking.livejournal.com/ <---- just some random "livejournal" page i found with probably THE biggest bitch of a man i've ever seen in my life as the author |

Sorry to hear bro. Last major g/f I had I broke up with her so I didn't have the sudden detachment feelings. It sucked, but we did have the occasional roll in the sack which was fun. My current g/f and I are about to roll onto 3 years and she's really pressuring me about getting engaged, is needy, possesive, and demanding to name a few of her better traits. My best friend is also getting increasingly sick of her.
I'm stuck feeling about what's best for me, just like you. Just find your way, surround yourself with good friends, take a trip and visit people. Gotta keep your mind off it. If you absolutly can't live without her, then go fight for her. You gotta make that decision though, cuz she won't make it for you or she'll just make your life hell, intentionally or unintentionally.
