how much do you have to make to live comfy in a good part of LA?
Just wondering what kind of salary youd have to make to have a 500 bmw payment, and live in an ok part of LA such as santa monica or west hollywood? I know there are a lot of variables like how well you dine and all, but lets just give estimates regardless...

65K seems low. Is that number assuming renting a place or owning?

I pay $2200 for a two bedroom - a bit on the priceyside for a "nice" area of LA but not unheard of. So that is around $28,000 per year with utilities and no roomates. You can figure the rest of the math yourself.

What part of LA do you guys live?? making 65k+ can get a descent living style. with the 500 car payment, you will still have 3k+ per month to live off of. is this not true?? There are many nice 2 bed apts in really nice areas for under $1800. I found one the other day which is one block away from Hancock Park for $1600 for 2 bed/ 2 baths.

I think getting by is too subjective to put a $$$ on it. 65k a yr can do it if you rent a non lux apartment and dont care to eat out at expensive places and dont care to save too much.
