Not the same engine you're thinking of, but yeah the same block. It's the 2JZ-GE(not GTE) which is the non turbo version.

^ correct, which is hella weaker than 2jz-gte. It seems like they built the 2jz-ge. I've seen plenty of 2jz-gte swaps in is300.

I would personally just buy a supra.

Please explain to me how the 2jz-ge is "hella weaker" than the gte. Do you even know the differences between the two motors?

I thought this engine was essentially the same engine that was used in the n/a supra. If i remember correctly, a lot of people wanted to add stock turbos to this engine, but there was a problem with hood clearance initially. As always, a solution is found.

I wanted this car in 2002 before i got my S2000 in 2003. I'm glad I got an S2000 instead.

Do YOU know the difference between the two?
2jz-gte not only has stronger rods, lower compression pistons than 2jz-ge, it also has oil squirters, more efficient head, different intake mani, and other list of things that are much more suited for F/I application.
Tell me 1 STOCK 2jz-ge motor that made over 800whp?
Why would the 2jz-gte become such as sought after motor if 2jz-ge can do the same?

Uh, my best friend has a 2JZ-GE in his 240sx that makes 950 whp on 30 psi with an S374. The GE record is over 1000 whp. They are also ~400 bucks instead of a few thousand like a GTE. It is a great motor, arguably better in some ways.

There is a reason why I capitalized the word "stock".

What is your point? The engine is STOCK, was FREE, and has 150k on it, out of a buddy's SC300 when he upgraded to a 1JZ. It does have a custom build intake manifold, but the head and bottom end are bone stock.

I don't get it. NA motor that's advised not to go over 500whp when bone stock making 950whp? and stay making 950whp?

You're telling me this high compression, weak internal motor is putting out 5 times the power output without any extensive modification and face brutal 30psi of pressure from a 42r sized turbo?

I've never heard of any motor making 5 times the original power output in stock form. Sorry, but I have to call it BS. Either the motor was bought built, or it was 2jz-gte

Yeah, you're right. If I remember correctly, Dave Henry owned the most powerful NA-T Supra and that was heavily built with a huge turbo, nitrous, massive weight reduction, a rare hardtop, etc. It could never make that power without the serious mods.

Who the fuck cares if the engine is built or not?

2JZ -engineering marvel.

I'm pretty sure 2JZ-GE can handle more power than the 4G63 in "STOCK" form for both.

So that means 2JZ-GE > 4G63 right?

And this is a fucking fast car.

Way to completely lose a point of the debate.
Whoever said anything about 4G63? And you're comparing a 4 cylinder engine vs. 6 cylinder engine? You are also completely lost about the power potential.
I've seen 4G63 handling more than 500whp in stock form, but that's not the point here.

2JZ is not an engineering marvel. 2JZ-GTE was simply overbuilt which is why it has so much power potential. 2JZ-GE on the other hand, is WEAKER than 2JZ-GTE, reason why this argument broke out.

It's funny when people say things based on their "informed opinions" to draw conclusions to fit their likings or disapprove others with NO facts whatsoever.
