PCB's in Fish Oil Capsules?
Anyone hear anything about this? Some fish oil capsules have been found to be contiminated with PCB, a chemical known to cause cancer. Chemical companies have been polluting certain bodies of water with this nasty chemical and in turn the fish absorb it into their bodies - hence the presence of the chemical in the fish oil.
http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_14501591 It's pretty disturbing. The ones I am taking are GNC 3x strength fish oil enteric capsules. I have since stopped taking them because I am worried about possible PCB contamination. I'm not here to make anyone paranoid but PCB's are a pretty serious toxin. |

That's why it's so vital to get your fish oils from a respected manufacturer. Poliquin and Pharmax are two of the best in my opinion.
Toxins are becoming more and more a concern. More toxins, less nutritious food. Bad news. |

You can never really know for sure since the FDA doesn't regulate stuff like this. But then again, GNC is a trusted and very large brand and I doubt they would put a product on their shelves with their name on it that was heavily contaminated. Still, I'd go with the brands recommended by Bobby_Light. I go with Optimum Nutrition because I got it in a package deal from *******

Pharmax here. I also got the micro encapsulated multi packs. Much better ingredients and the, supposed, highest absorption rate.

I use Natures Bounty, which isn't mentioned in that article at all. I wonder if it's on the list.
I would recommend Source Natural's as another quality brand. |
