Which type of new car to get??
My girl friend is in the market for a new car but she isnt sure what she should get. She is looking mostly at the C-230, because she like how smooth the ride is, but I hate the car because of the lack of room and the lack of acceleration. I want her to get the G35 or Audi but its her final decision. I wanna here what you all think is best.
Her car will be new, she is purchasing not leasing, she doesnt want to spend more than 33K, and it will be her everyday car. |

Are you only looking at used vehicles? (the A4 is no longer a 1.8, but now a 2.0T)
Are you leasing or purchasing? What's your price range? What does she like? What will she be using the car for?

They're practically giving those W-203 C230s away...I suggest you look at those, 31k OTD is not impossible (C230 with auto and sunroof package). Try Euromotorcars in Bethesda, MD they have good pricing, the last time I was there a couple of weeks ago they were throwing 29k figures on a C230. A collegue made off with 10k off MSRP on a W164 ML350.
PS. I wouldn't interfere so much with your GF's decisions

I helped my co-worker shop for a car about a month ago. She was looking at all of the cars you mentioned above and we looked at all of them. I hear all new C-Class model is not too far away, if that is not the issue get 2007 C230, dealer offered a number she couldnt refuse, almost made me get one my self. I know for my coworker, if she didnt get the C-Class, A4 2.0 was the next choice. Let me know if you want good pricing on A4's. I know an excellent Sales Advisor at Rockville Porsche/Audi.

Its barely obtainable at $33k OTD though...definitely the non-navi version.

There is a new A4 in the works.. there is a new C class coming soon. Unless she is going to keep the car forever... she should wait on the new model.. or get something else.
She should also check out the new C30 from Volvo with the 2.5 T 5Cyl engine.. safe, new, fresh and reasonably quick. http://www.volvocars.com/campaigns/M...ow/default.htm

why isn't E90 on the list? You can get a base model for that price or a used one loaded.

Stick to german cars. AUDI or C-cLass, id prefer audi over the C-class mainly becos the new c-class will be out soon and she'd be stuck with an old one. (+ c-class looks ugly)

I'd go for the '07 G35. It's overall 11" longer than our E90's so it most certainly has the room that you require. It's also a brand new design with the latest technologies so it won't be considered "out of date" for at least 6 years.
As for the C-class, I agree with other posters here that it's an old design, and I don't see the point in getting something when the replacement will be out in the spring. I constantly get them as a loaner from MB and I hate them, the inside I find is rather uncomfortable with all these hard plastic corners jutting into my legs left right and center. Also, just the way MB designed the middle of the dash where all the buttons sit seems to be a constant reminder that you were a cheapskate and didn't take the car loaded. Out of something like 16 buttons, only a couple have functionality in a basic car. Tey also charge an arm and a leg for options. The A4 was 60% refreshed not too long ago, but a total replacement shouldn't be too far off. I like Audi's, but nothing smaller than the A6, I find the A4 feels feels rather small on the inside.

I'd say G35 or TSX.
G35 if she is a driving enthusiast, TSX if she prefers FWD.
