Bought a Valentine 1 on Ebay, would this be considered false advertising?
I won an auction for a pretty new V1 unit and received it this morning. Besides the technical details of the unit, there was the following description on the auction page:
"You are bidding on a like new Valentine 1 in great cosmetic shape. Purchased less than 3 weeks ago and barely used; selling my car and no longer needed for me so I am selling it . This comes with everything you see in the picture and including the remote display . If you were to order this from Valentine 1 you would pay $399.00 for base unit + $39.00 for Remote display . Plus tax and shipping which would come to a grand total of $489.00 . Thank you for looking and good luck ...this is the top of the foodchain radar detector . If you pay Paypal immediately when you win the auction , I will ship immediately .....Thanks again Status Report on Your Valentine One Serial Number 7615141005 V1 Description: Radar circuitry known in-house as V1.8—POP2 with Euro Mode. This is our latest and best performer on both radar and laser. Upgrade Recommendation: You already have our best On Mar-25-10 at 13:12:29 PDT, seller added the following information: You are bidding on a like new Valentine 1 in great cosmetic shape. Purchased less than 3 weeks ago and barely used; selling my car and no longer needed for me so I am selling it . This comes with everything you see in the picture with box including all acessories (car charger, car mounting unit, electrical cables for car connection, extra long wires, window radar holder, instruction manual, original box and packaging) . Thank you for looking and good luck ...this is the top of the foodchain radar detector . If you pay Paypal immediately when you win the auction , I will ship immediately ..... The first portion of the ebay page stated that it would come with the concealed display, and after I received the package this morning and realized there was no concealed display, i re-read the auction page, and noticed that added part didn't mention it. But the original ad was still there, which is why i bid and won with an amount of $370. Otherwise I dont' think i would have paid that much for just the original unit since all the other items won with around a bid of 320-350. I emailed the seller asking about it, but do you guys think that that would be considered shady/false advertising?

You are correct. He would have to have mentioned that the concealed display isn't, in fact, included in the additional info. It's still in the description plain and simple

For sure. It was in the original part. You could have retracted your bid if you had already bid though. Good luck.
$370 is still a good price for it.

imo, you're lucky the unit works at all. His description doesn't say that the unit is working anywhere. Only that it is in good 'cosmetic' condition.
This is how I read and interpreted the originally displayed item description. "You are bidding on a like new Valentine 1 in great cosmetic shape. (Like new, but not new. Cosmetic condition is useless without good functional condition) Purchased less than 3 weeks ago and barely used; (Barely used but still broken) selling my car and no longer needed (since it's broke) for me so I am selling it . This comes with everything you see in the picture and including the remote display .(They've all been up my ass and no longer work.) If you were to order this from Valentine 1 you would pay $399.00 for base unit + $39.00 for Remote display .

And what would all of you guys think a good price is for a V1 that is still in warranty?
