It's about effin time!
Let's see here...prohibition has not stopped its use, national forests are being destroyed by the illegal pot gardens planted by mexican drug cartels, the only reason it is worth ANYTHING is because it is illegal, Cali has a record budget shortfall and over-crowded prisons of which taxing pot and legalizing it would help address, and this is the only drug on the planet with no known toxicity level. Did I miss anything? And if anyone replies with that gateway theory bullshit, then chew on this...using the exact same reverse logic behind the gateway theory, masturbation leads to rape.

Good. The state is $50 billion in the hole. The tax revenue generated from legalized pot will make a big difference.
And more importantly: Mexico. Border cities like Juarez are turning into war zones as the drug traffickers fight it out with the federales. The only way it will ever stop is if we legalize drugs, especially marijuana. |

Once other states see how much Cali is making in taxes, the dominos will start to fall. If it's legal in Cali it will be much eaiser to get it to the states that are not. We can bypass Mexico compleatly

Local police officers association saw it coming: they kicked the vending machine out and BOUGHT their own, then they stock it with better stuff and charge less. THEY see the writing on the wall!!!!

Cali hasn't quite gotten around to legalizing it yet, so you seem to be a bit early to the party.

Please please please do not jinx it!
We have a state full of douchebags, who can still vote it down in November.

I don't think legalizing marijuana will create the huge windfall in tax revenue everyone thinks but it will certainly help. And if it'll make these kids with the pot leaf air fresheners and chain wallets seems a little less proud of how forward thinking they air we'll have really accomplished soemthing.
