Angry Old Lady Runs Red Light...Totals my E90

Went jogging around LSU lakes last night, pulled out of parking lot when I left and got up to about 45mhp. Came up on the first light, which was green. About 25 feet from the middle of the intersection, some old lady in a Camry thought it would be a grand idea to just come on out through her red light. T-boned her. All I can say is BMW makes a very safe car. The air-bag sprained my wrist and I am a little sore today but thats about it. She denied running the light but I have 5 witnesses...just waiting on a copy of the police report. She seemed very stubborn. I have a feeling it may get nasty and I might have end up taking her to court.

5 witnesses? If they all claim you were not at fault there is no way she's going to even have a chance of winning. Goodluck with that and hopefully you're going to be back in a bimmer real soon!

Damn sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are okay.

In '85-'86 I lived just outside the south gates of LSU and rode my bike around the lakes alot. Love that area.

I hope the old lady and her insurance company don't give you too much heartburn.

She has no way to deny it once the police report comes out and your five witnesses all stated that she ran the light.

Did the nav readout say "catastrophic failure"? That is what my X5 said when i totalled it on some black ice and tried to start it.

God damn dude. Sorry this had to happen to you. Freaking unlucky.

Most importantly you're okay.

She's being stubborn? Over what? How can she possibly refuse to take responsibility for her utter stupidity?

I hope you're kidding. I hate when people file bogus lawsuits on "whiplash" and "traumatic stress". It is one thing if you have those as a result of a bad accident, but judging from what OP said its just a sprained wrist. I was in an accident ( a friend was driving) and it was literally a bumper tap. My friend got distracted at a red light, took his foot off the brake, and drifted into the car in front. They sued my friend for whiplash. Was a waste of everyone's time and money.

Damn, did they actually win?

We have such a pathetic legal system in this country.

Dang! That sucks, man. Sorry to see/hear. Women/people who run red lights tend to be stubborn in the first place. They're obviously not full there. Best of luck.

Glad your okay, BMW makes very safe cars.

If this does go to court make sure you get cell phone records if possible... could have been on hands free, never know.

Nope. But everyone still had to pay for lawyer fees etc... She tried to sue me after stating I lied under oath... My father/uncle/grandfather were all lawyers and good friends with the judge. He dismissed the claim against me before I had to get a lawyer.

Man that sucks! I hate it when people run reds/stop signs. Sometimes it's just you not getting hit, and shaking your head at them, not really thinking about being hit.

But then you see something like this and realize how serious it reall is.
Not to jack the thread, but I'm reminded of my xmas shopping and some lady running through a stop sign causing me to stop partway through (when it was my turn to go!). She didn't hesitate, or even look. Probably wasn't thinking or just took it for granted that everyone else would stop.

Keep an eye on how your body feels, and aches, or sprains, as they can be longer term than you might originally think!

Hey guys, I'm sure her Camry was experiencing a case of "unintended acceleration"! Give her a break for god sake! Didn't your hear about the runaway Prius just a week ago?

All jokes aside, sorry for your lost. Were those 5 witnesses strangers or someone you know? If they were strangers, there is no way she can get out of it.
