New Sig Sauer on the way :)
Went to the local gun store yesterday afternoon and ordered a new Sig Sauer P226 9mm; I'm pretty pumped about it, these 10 days need to hurry by. Anyone else use a Sig?

My condolences.......
Sig's quality is top rate, but I can't stand their ergonomics. The placement of the slide stop is terrible for a "thumbs forward" grip. Also, they tend to have a very high bore axis, which creates additional muzzle flip. I'm also not a fan at all of DA/SA handguns in general (assuming you got a standard P226 and not a DAO or a DAK.) But if it works for YOU, then it is all good!

I really want a Wilson Combat 1911, but unfortunately I cannot justify spending 2500+ on a pistol right now, haha. I was also looking at kimber 1911s but again, I was trying to keep the cost below 1k, and all the Kimbers I found were 1300+. And as far as muzzle flip, I'm not worried about that with a 9mm, I love how the Sig shoots, and its quite aesthetically pleasing. I do take up some issue with the location of the slide release, but I'll get used to it; the first time firing this particular handgun, I reached for the decocker a few times when intending to use the slide release, haha.

Yes they do, and those are also right around the same price range as Kimber.

SA 1911's are the classics "Series 70" style, meaning no silly firing pin safety. They do have a stupid key lock in the main spring housing, but I replaced that with one from Smith & Alexander. With some upgrades I did to mine, I'm into for less than $1,100 and it has been 100% reliable.

Agreed. My Kimber's finish wore off fast, but the fit of the parts was great. Still, Springfield makes nicer 1911s imho. It took me a while to get past the made in Brazil thing, but Imbel apparently makes great FALs and whatnot...

Not all SA 1911 frames/slides are made in Brazil either. Mine in particular was made in the USA. But I wouldn't worry about an Imbel made receiver either.

Not to thread jack, but what is the general consensus on a Beretta handgun?

The only Beretta I ever fired is the one we get issued in the USMC, the Beretta M9 (M92 in the civilian world)...and I HATED it. It felt cheap to me, and I don't like the manual safety on it at all; one of the main reasons I chose to purchase the P226 was the lack of a manual safety.

i have the exact same gun in full stainless. it's a great gun, hasn't jammed once, but the stainless is too heavy to carry.

My buddy has a Kimber 1911 and it's the most uncomfortable gun I've ever shot. Rough edges all over the place and more recoil than any other .45 I've experienced.
