Airport Etiquette

1. Idiots who stand up IMMEDIATELY after the plane docks at the terminal as if they are magically going to be first off.

When the plane docks after your journey do not immediately stand up, get in the aisle, open the overhead compartments, etc..(unless of course you are at the front of the plane). Calm down, stay seated, wait until you have room to move without hitting/blocking other people, WAIT YOUR TURN, everything will be ok.

2. Idiots who stand within inches of the baggage claim carrier/tract.

Seriously WTF. Back up 3 to 5 feet so that everyone can see their luggage. When your bag approaches, step forward and take your bag, then GTF out of the way. I have no problem knee checking people w/ my 40lb bag who stand infront of everyone else at the luggage terminal - male or female.

It isn't going to be a jihadist who is going to go ape shit on the general public next time.

Please add some airport etiquette of your own. For example, using the restroom the MOMENT the 'fasten seatbelt' sign goes off or using the restroom on a 45 minute flight.

I had a guy sit next to me who brought his own food on the plane to eat. It was some really stinky chinese and I was forced to smell it for an hour. I wanted to puke all over him.

On the flip side my best flights are when a talkative hot chick has sat next to me. I have this weird habit of watching the people walk down the aisle and mentally pick out who I want to sit next to me and who I don't. It's mostly hot girl YES...fat man NO

Don't bump my shoulder with your bag on your way to coach.

Seriously though, SCREAMING BABIES, kill them - or at least tranquilize them.

OK, no really seriously though:

1. If you try and talk to me and I close my eyes and pretend to sleep, please don't keep trying to make conversation.

2. Don't kick the back of my seat.

3. Dress appropriately. It's tradition back from the "olden days" to dress nicely when flying. I mean you don't have to wear a suit or anything, but please, at least be clean - no wife-beaters and flip-flops.

4. Don't ask if you can buy me a drink - ew. There is nothing worse than being stuck next to some creep who you know is hitting on you.

5. When they say now boarding ABC, don't get in line if you're XYZ.

6. Know the rules, don't be ignorant. (Like fighting about having to throw away a gallon of Scope.) You just hold up the security line.

Thank you for flying.

as someone that travels frequently, i often stand right where the baggage spits out. i don't want to be in the airport longer than i have to be. call me selfish, but airports suck.

my biggest pet peeve is people that don't know the rules of the security checkpoint. you know, the people with gallons of liquids in their carryons, get all the way to the xray machine and still have their laptops in their bags, people that show up at security (mostly women) with layers of metal jewelry, don't get their shoes off, and old people in wheelchairs.

southwest airlines preboarding is another one of my hated things. seems like anyone with a cough can get preboarding. i usually fly business select on southwest which gives you priority boarding, but there are usually so many preboards that all the good front bulkhead seats are taken before i get a chance to get them.

i've been flying first class a lot lately. definitely takes the edge off flying.

I understand what you are saying, and there is no problem standing where the bags come out... but you aren't getting your bag until it comes out the chute. So back the f*ck up.

Usually I'll just put my wallet, cell phones, watches and keys on my carry on backpack at security. So i don't have to search for anything in my pocket right in front of the metal detector.

I just don't want to be around security any longer than I need. Take off coat, shoes, put the backpack on the belt, any laptop on the separate tray and move...is that simple!

3. People who will not check in any luggage...even the tiniest bitches will have a carry-on that is too big, and she can't even lift it to the overhead storage. Not too mention that these people usually have several additional bags (like shopping bags, computer bags, purses, etc.).

4. Fat people who fly coach and make no appologies for encroaching onto your paid seat.

5. People who can't sit still without making annoying sounds. This also applies to people who snore while they sleep, thereby annoying the entire plane.

actually, if you're a frequent flyer having a elite status. dressing business casual will give you a better chance to upgrade if econ are overbooked. its not a written rule, but normally the check in staff will use this rule-of-thumb.

No matter how many times I fly, I still get anxious when I have to walk through the detector, lol. I'm like, is it gonna beep, is it? And when it doesn't, it's like, ah.

Oh, and I also forgot, people who just stand there on the moving walkway blocking people who are in a real hurry. Hey kind of like me when I drive slowly in front of speeders, ha.

Exactly. One of my parents worked for British Airways. We would always dress the part to be moved up to Business/First Class. 90% of the time, if a seat was open, we were in.

Fat slobs who take up the entire moving walkway or escalator, not allowing anyone to pass. IT'S LIKE A ROAD PEOPLE DO YOU TAKE UP BOTH LANES WHEN YOU DRIVE?

This is not a problem in any other country but America. We just cant figure this one out. Makes me want to punch a koala bear.

true that....

but most asian airports are really nice, SIN, HKG, NRT, KIX, KUL, PEK, ICN. Most because they cough up the big-dough and build a fresh one to cope with growing traffic and travellers....some europe airport wasn't that bad either....MUC, Zurich, Schiphol....maybe LHR Terminal 5 only....
