The new F10 M5 will be a different story with the TTs. Also the new F10 wins in the looks department over the new W212 E63, imho.
But by next year, the n/a 63 will be dropped for TTs and DI. That's when the test comparison between the W212 E63 and the F10 M5 should be done by the mags, imho. |

I looked at, and almost bought a '10 E63 a couple of months ago. Imho, it is head and shoulders above the current M5. But like you mentioned, after seeing the new F10 5 series....I'm pretty sure that the new F10 M5 will win in both looks and performance. The E63 is an incredible car that I know that I would also love to own at some point. |

I considered the e63, great looking car, interior was a little to much for me. I bought the jag XFR over both the e63 and the M5. All round better daily driver.
Ian very interested to see the new M5 |

I'm getting used to the look and I think the front is pretty aggressive for a mercedes lux sedan. Though I do agreed that it won't aged as well as the current W211. The E AMG and M5 war will never end, which is good for the consumer.

Slower then i thought it would be but handling has improved over its older body... imho just a little overall not as good performance wise as i though.
I would still take a E60 M5 over this... This E63 is getting chaned within the next 2 years with a v8 twin turbo that is suppose to be called a E55 once again. |

The E60 M5 came out in 2005 as a 2006 model. So I'd expect a brand new 2010 competitor to have the edge. If it didn't, then they screwed up big time. The F10 M5 should have the edge on the E63AMG, coming out as a new 2011 model.
I think the new F10 looks great, and I can't wait to see how awesome it will look as an M5!

I also feel it's too expensive compared to the Jag or M5 and if BMW give it either the DCT or ZF 8sp combined with a decent ride it will wipe the floor with the competition because it's the best looking 5 series in years and one of the best looking saloons regardless of size. |

The new E63 definitely has a great motor and the moves to back it up, but like others have said, the E60 M5 is now on its fifth year and the platform has probably been studied and copied by the competition. The F10 will bring a lot more to the table when it's released. The edmunds video mentioned something about the tranny not having a torque converter. Does anyone know if the C63 uses the same tranny? It will be interesting to see the competition between the upcoming M5 and E55 as they will both be TT's.

The E63 uses the tranny from the SL63 called MCT (using clutch packs instead of torque converter), its their version of DSG or DCT. I dont think the C63 has that yet.

Mercedes don't look as good modded as BMWs do. There's just something about the lines of the BMW models that's more accommodated by mods.
