Just to be clear on this, MCT is no double clutch transmission. It's a conventional automatic transmission with a wet clutch. I don't know how this makes it comparable to PDK and M-DCT.

Read a few reviews of what they say about the MCT on the track, then come back and says it's better than M-DCT. This might be the reason why Mercedes gave the SLS a proper DCT.

Like Footie said, Merc's top transmission is the DCT in the SLS.

The original thread topic had nothing to do with that. You were asking which of the three were best. DCT > MCT, case closed.

OK, let's talk about the Spring 2011 facelift:

The C63 AMG will be replaced by the C55 AMG (M278). Though, I didn't see any information on the transmission yet. IMO, the logical step would be a double clutch transmission, but I don't know about the resources at Merc regarding DCTs. Are they trying to tie their DCT exclusively to the SLS for quite some time or not? The launch of the CLS 55 AMG next year will give us a hint.

Best regards,
south

I was thinking the very same thing. The problem with DCT is repairs and replacement parts are expensive compared to automatics and regardless of what we are discussing here as to which is best the differences between all are small.

I wouldn't be surprised if Merc continue with the MCT.

I read that the MCT is almost 40% lighter than its cousin with the torque converter because of the clutch pack. I wonder what would be the shift time between for the MCT. Review shows that for sure it shifts smoother than the DCT in a DD function.

Shifting up there is nothing smoother than a DCT but on down shifts I don't know which would be better.
