BB Bold 9700?
Thinking of getting one of these to replace my old curve 8320.
Anybody have this phone? How do you like it? http://na.blackberry.com/eng/devices...berrybold9700/

i bought a droid, disliked the keyboard/touchscreen, returned it and got a bold 9700. couldn't be happier. much faster than bold 9000, excellent camera (see attached pic), OS 5.0 is a great improvement, and the trackpad is a great improvement on the trackball.

hell no! the processor in this thing is an underclocked 800mhz processor. everything runs smoothly. as far as texts, RIM is finally doing threaded SMS messages, which is a great improvement in 5.0.

That's old news for us Storm owners, but I'm going to back your statement. OS 5.0 made these phones great. The difference between 5.0 and any other OS is night and day. Get the 9700, you'll love it. I'm sure of it.

i have an 8900 curve, already a much much better phone than the 8320...the 9700 is very similar to the 8900, sans the 3g and touchpad, not enougfh for me to shell out extra dough for ther upgrade, but i would shell out dough to upgrade from the 8320 to the 9700 no doubt.get it, youll be very happy.btw i also owned an 8320

I got my wife the 9700 to replace her 8900. She loves it, and she's really into that sort of tech. The optical trackball is a huge plus too.
She's been on the 5.0 bandwagon for a while. I'm pleasantly surprised with RIM on this one. One word of advice though: If you have bigger hands/fingers, you're better off staying with the traditional Curve-based keypads. I couldn't type on my Bold for shit, and the 9700 is the same layout/design, only smaller. If it hadn't been for that, I would have bought one instead of my Tilt2. |

I replaced my 8900 for the 9700. The 8900 was so FUCKING slow and the lack of 3G didn't bother me til much later on. Now that I have the 9700 it pretty much feels like I upgraded from driving a rental to a m3!

i love my 9700. best phone I ever owned. even better than the iphone. The processing speed and the camera is so superior than the 9000, its never froze on me and the keyboard is the perfect size for me. It might be a little small. but its leaps and bounds above the iphone's terrible touchscreen keyboard.

Thanks for making this topic. I've been researching new phones for over a month and I think I've finally landed on purchasing a Bold 9700. This will be my first Blackberry.... Didn't like the trackball prior so purchased a BlackJack II as my last phone. After playing with the Bold 9700, I dig the trackpad and it seems to flow very smoothly. Speed seems great, camera looked good from taking shots around the store, and web browser has been much improved. Sounds like Opera Mini is the thing to download as far as the browser goes and resolves any complaints one might have about it.
Seems like I'll have to be on the hunt for friends who have Blackberrys as well so I can use the BBM. Still dont know what the hype on BBM is all about but.... That's the phone I was going to get until recently. Was all set for it until I heard about frequent crashing by more than a few folks. I really don't want something that lags/freezes and needs to be rebooted frequently.
