Rather than the S3, I'd go for the Golf R. It'll be cheaper than the Audi and it's basically the same car.

sticker price is 34k euro compared to S3 and STI being 45K

bit disapointed to see citeron win WRC 6 years running and not put out a car

few more pics the aim is towards preformance hatch or small cars.

i somewhat feel the need for a small car for city use. to fit in with the shitty traffic and small parking spaces

STI all the way. When my lease is up, I am back in one. Best AWD system of any hatch out there.

Does this count? Technically it's a hatch-back.

Lots of piston ring failures on the MY08 and 09 Subaru STI's. I personally would not get one until they get their "stuff" together.

Subaru has some problems right now + they dropped out of the WRC. Most everyone that I hear from likes their Subaru hatchback STI...until it blows a piston.

I also drive an '07 STI.

If you like the S3 then you will LOVE the new Golf R. In everyway it's superior to the Audi.

The Focus RS is an extreme machine, if you love to be thrilled 24/7 then it's the way to go but I found spending 48hrs with one to be tiresome. Each to their own, but I would seriously wait and test the Golf before jumping because it really is that good.

P.S.
Take this from someone who does know what he is talking about regarding the S3 vs Golf R.
