I think that car has such classic looks- it'll look good in 20 years.
240 hp- redlines at 9 (I think)
I'm pretty sure the '07 will be the last year- they keep saying that every year, though. But I bet '07 will be it.
The Silverstone w/ the red/black interior is really nice.

its nice, I test drove one but its not worth it if u done have any place to drive it. i would get one along with a SUV, but not as my main car. The engineering is great but the Vtec is its flaw, bc u have to get ur RPMs so high b4 it kicks in. I would get a 350Z b4 that but they are heavy. Just wait for the new G35 coupe.

I have a Nissan Pathfinder for the winter (New England!), the 330i (which has 900 miles) and I really want a little something to scream in!
I only use the 330 on nice days, and was wondering if I made a mistake and should have just gotten the s......
Not sure about that, but the 330 is so much more flexible, so I 'm glad I have it. But, it's not really the kind of car I want to go out in on a beautiful fall afternoon and go "nowhere in particular".
I don't know.... I want it all. And I want it now, dammit.

I myself prefer Nissans, as I feel that they are the more racing-bred of the major Japanese car companies. Their vehicles are heavy, but they still give you that raw power that you would be looking for. If your into modding cars, I would try the 350Z and mod it, that way the weight issue wouldnt be as apparent, even with the excess weight. How is the Pathfinder (yr)?

hopefully you're not too big of a guy, I personally can't fit in one

a 2 seat droptop is a perfect companion for an E90

i want a hardtop one. i think my friend is gonna get one in one or two years... depending on if the s2000 gets redesigned or not. the current one is amazing though... like you said... 9k redline :O

i also like the 05' wrx stis... saw one today... stock has BBSes, brembos, exhaust, and mudflaps! haha they look so good... i'm not too fond of the 06's though... sorry for threadjackin

I would much rather own a Z4 than an S2k. Im not saying the S2k isnt a nice car, but its just not what I would choose...

The new s2ks have a 8k redline. sorry guys . but if you buy a used one you can still get the 9k redline. When i went to test drive the car, the sales guy told me the new ones have more torque so no need for the 9k redline. I think the driving position is perfect. Its soo much fun to drive. i liked it better then the 350z.

I love the way the S2000 looks, but after reading some reviews and learning that you cannot get a 6cyl in it at all, I was disappointed and didn't consider it further. The car performs great if you really rev it up and drive it like a race car. The problem is, I don't drive like that (ultra high rpms). I like the performance, but I don't want to get 5000rpms before it even starts to pull strong! I read on one of the reviews of the first year s2000's that they did a 0-60 test but they shifted at 5000rpms instead of going to redline. It took over 10secs! So, if you're not racing it, it's a really slow/tame car for everyday driving.

They did increase the torque since then, but still, it's no 6cyl....

I believe you can get a used one with low miles for under 25K. There are many out there too so that you can shop for color. I'm saving money for a used s2000 instead of modding my 330.

My Pathfinder is 2004 MY- I really love that thing- I had an '00, '02 and now the '04. Don't care too much for the new look.
Yeah, I'm not a small guy myself- and I'm not talking ht!
But, I LOVE that small cozy roadster "feel"- the wheel close, just a small flick if the wrist to reach any control, etc. Again, daily driver- ha! Not a chance- at least for me because of practicality, size, weather, etc. But weekends?- oh baby.
The 350 doesn't do it for me- I see way too many people driving them- and they have NO idea what a dead pedal is. Same for lots of high hp performance cars, though.
When I had my M3s- '95 and '98, they meant something. If you drove an M3, it menat you were a car guy (girl)- not 100%, but for the most part. They were not even THAT expensive back then- my '98 was $38K. Can't buy an SUV for $38K! Now, I have yet to see an M3 that's NOT driven by a 50 year old woman talking on her cell phone.
I think the used S2000 is the way to go- I'd prefer newer and low miles. I've seen '04 and '05 ones with 3-10K on the clock- that's what I think I'd like to get.
By the same token, new ones in New England are 3-4K off sticker- not too bad.
I would certainly rather get an S2000 and mod that a bit (minor) and leave the 330 alone- maybe chip & exhaust for the 330, but nothing else.
To me- not a millionaire- Porsche is an incredible car, but not a great value. Hope that does not offend anyone. That's not who Porsche is trying to attract, anyway.
The Boxster- great, but $65K? Not for me- even if I had it. When "footwell lighting" is a $500 option, I know I'm looking at the wrong car.
Went to a Porsche dealership event- steak, lobster, anything you wanted to drink (ANYTHING) and unlimited. Even the coffee had booze in it! Incredible! Anyway- there with my g/f and she really wanted this Boxster- beautiful blue (dark) color- the paint was a $5000 option. I said- no freakin way! $500, 800 (BMW)- fine. Even that annoys me, but fine. $5000 EXTRA!

Yeah, you probably did. Of all the sedans the e90 was what I picked because it felt the best to me. But I wouldn't pick it as my, 'only drive it when it's nice out fun car'.

A few years ago when I bought an e46 convertible, I couldn't decide between an S2000, a Boxster or the e46. The Boxster was going to be a stretch once any kind of options got put on a base model. At that time the S2000 was so new, dealers wouldn't allow any kind of test drives and they were trying to pull the 5k over msrp (I don't pay msrp for any car on principle). So I ended up with an e46 cab. That I sold 16mo later because it was such a dogpile. Slow, handled like crap, felt heavy (no offense e46 cab owners) and slooooow. Did I mention slow? And heavy ... ploddingly slow and heavy.

I still to this day see S2ks and wish I'd bought one. I still think it's one of the last true sports cars available. Pretty much it and the Elise. Everything else has sat nav, power this power that blah blah ... that's all weight. If it doesn't make the car go faster/handle better it doesn't belong on a sports car.

Never could understand why everybody complains that it has to be revved up ... the revs are there, use them, wft?

350z? Blvd cruiser.

And if it's your 'only out on nice day car' why not make it a convertible?

Boulevard cruiser is the same way I'd describe the 350- sure I'll hear something on that statement!
To me, the 330 was a great all-around choice- performance, style, etc. As I may have mentioned, I had 2 M3s and sadly, could not swing a new M3. I would have if I could have. I just built a new house and..... need I say more?
Also, it's tough when you also need to have an SUV, or at least something with all/4 wheel drive. Nice to live in the south, west, etc.
Boxster? Options? Yeah, the car is free, just add the options!!
I may just trade my 330- I'm afraid to see what a dealer would give me for it!
I did not really get the 330 as my "fun car", because I need the practicality that the 330 offers, I just want an S2000!.... did I say that?

Drive a 350z and shift at 3000 rpms (4000 short of redline and I bet its about tha same. IMO my dad has a s2k and we drove the rx-8 and 350z and the s2k is the sports car of the bunch easily. The 350z is so heave and the interior sucks. S2k handles much better than a 350Z.

speaking from personal experience, the S2K is a GREAT car for what you pay.

My brother has had 2 of them so far.......2000 and 2004, the latter of which has Comptech SC on it. That car will beat most cars on the road, period. Even without the SC, the S2K is sooooooooooo much fun to drive. Just add a nice set of coilovers and sticky rubber and you'll be in heaven.

BTW, he also has 2005 M3 cab..........I still prefer to drive the S2K ;-)

the M3's a cab that's why

it's a nice car, but the s2k is much lighter and will handle better

both nice cars, but the M3's a bit more of a blvd cruiser compared to the S2k (you don't have to be very soft to be a cruiser compared with the s2k)

the m3 convert is so heavy compared to the coupe and It doesnt really fell like your typical M car so I know what your saying.

Actually, the M3 just doesn't "feel" the same.............hard to explain. The S2 with the supercharger is so bad ass it's hard to describe. The amount of power itr puts down coupled with the touch and feel of the tranny and suspension is just amazing. You really feel in unison woth the car.

I wish Honda gave it that type of power from the factory :-(

Both are great cars........shit, I'd LOVE to have my brother's driveway, however the M3 is good for certain things and the S2K is good for certain things. I have the luxury of choosing, so I choose the S2k.

yeah, but it's lacking in lots of the luxury features the M3 has and it's slower by a pretty good margin in a straight line
