Posting warning?

Is it just me or does getting a warning from a moderator about suggesting (not even linking) someone go to another forum to look for answers to their question sound like insane paranoia?

That just happened to me at Bimmerforums. I've never had anyone give me a warning for just trying to help someone find answers.

I got an infraction for making a joke (with obvious implied sarcasm) about an OPs wife. He said she didn't like BMWs and I said "get a new wife". 10 points. lol

Some warnings seem unwarranted at times.

The OP didn't seem to have been bothered by that at all!! So how many more points you can get before you're banished to an MB forum?

Did the other forum you directed the person to by any chance happen to be cross town rivals with Vishnu?

What do you expect? This place is going to the kiddies fast. This forum didn't even disallow "street kill stories" until I made a big fuss about it 2 months ago. People were talking about how they would race at night on canyon roads, the mods would let these threads get to 4-5 pages. I also got a warning for calling the 135i a "very ugly car."

I think the only reason I post here is to address the idiocy I sometimes read in the General Car Forum, I don't even own a regular 3 series anymore.

That's finally a universal rule around here?

"No kill stories" was a rule on 1addicts.com from the start and if there has been a change on other parts of this site it may have stemmed from there following the merger.

Actually I don't know if it's a rule officially, I just saw a guy in another thread say "since kill stories aren't allowed anymore", I assumed the mods made it a rule FINALLY.

A 6SpeedOnline, and CorvetteForums, street kill stories are deleted pretty fast. In fact it's a game to post "IBTL" and make a snide comment about the OP before the mods stomp down on the thread.

As far as I've known, kill stories have never been allowed on Bimmerpost in general. I've seen a few slip by the mods but they all get closed eventually.

6Speed has very little bullshit. Not only are the mods very active and strict, but most posters are mature and they report/flame anything that isn't appropriate.

+1
And the same with Rennlist. People don't even have to report because the maturity level is already high to begin with. And the AMG E Class and S Class forums (and also the MB sponsored AMG forum)

Lots of kids here. It seems like BMW is the default car for 17 year olds. It can get incredibly immature. It unfortunately adds to BMW's stereotype reputation, true or not.

I wouldn't trust anything that came from a dude who claimed to have killed an Atom with a 1er. Unless the ugliness of the 1er killed the Atom of course

6Speed, RennList are both very mature, no BS, enthusiast websites.

Although some parts of 6Speed are getting worse, like the GTR forum. Maybe it's the turbos that really bring the kids out.
