What is the big deal? I have seen neons trash "performance" cars.

The 1.8t is a solid engine, I have heard of people getting 300+ hp on the stock block and cams!

my automatic E90 325i outran an A4 2.0TQ. and I had two other people in the car.

maybe the other guy couldnt drive... he'd get the jump but after my engine builds up steam i'd pass him.

actually, I think that the 1.8t is good engine. The problem is that it lies in a chassis that is way too heavy, or coupled in an awd (even more heavy), or fwd package. However, you cannot compare a non-OEM engine with a stock one, like the M3. Keep in mind that the M3 is natuarally aspirated...no turbo lag there! Let's throw a turbo on the e46, as some other goodies, and then see how that audi keeps up with it. Dodge has stage III neon (SRT-4's) that would blow the doors of both those cars....but so what? At the end of the day, when you get home from drag racing other cars light to light, you still go home sitting in your dodge, while the other guy gets to drive home in his BMW. I think we know who the real winner is

OK, OK! So the M3 sort of lost to the A4. Now let's bring out the M5 and see how badly it would destroy the Audi. I remember on the track at the BMW Performance Center, while driving the M3 I got right up on the M5's ass but as soon as we hit the 1/2 mile straight away the M3 couldn't touch those 500 horses of pure mean power. The M5 pulled away, far away.

But as far as the M3 and Audi A4 goes, as soon as you hit some corners that A4 will be so far in the dust it's not even funny. I don't care if the A4 has 800HP, it couldn't touch the M3's handling abilities.

I love how everyone automatically gets offended, and starts bringing up that just because his car is modded it shouldn't be compared to a stock M3--just because it beats it.

If someone on here was able to mod their E90 to beat a stock M3, and he was able to show it, would you guys still be saying the same thing? The one thing I hate about BMWs and their drivers is that just because at the end of the day you go home beat, you're somehow still a "winner" because you drive a BMW. Honestly, your a loser, I don't care which way around it, sure you drive an M3, but you guys honestly have to give this guy with an A4 respect, that he was able to tune his engine enough to beat an M3, and out of anyone, I'd expect BMW drivers to know how quick M3's really are.

I understand that it might not be fair to compare this car to that car because this car has this and that car has that, but honestly, if you were on the street in an M3 and some "punk ass fool" in an A4 (just because he rolls an A4) and shows that he wants a challenge and takes you, you're not going to complain that his car was modded and beat you, you'd probably still be in shock that your $50,000+ M3 was just beat by an A4, and honestly I give this guy some props, I think he should come out to LA and spank some of these M3 drivers. Mad props to the guy in the A4

The 1.8L A4 is in no way garbage. Cmon guys why are we bashing another german engineered car? Yes i think all of us would rather own an M3 but damn the A4 is about 35K with the right packages. I also believe that it can keep up with an M3 with some work because an A4 is seriously the easiest car to get more HP out of it. Simply from a little ECU tune because of the turbos you can get 45 HP. Thats on older models but the new twin turbod audi's you can almost get 80hp!!!!!! The new audios come with 255Hp stock. It doesnt need that much work to beat or keep up with an M3.....Both are great cars and id take either....Stop bashing cars that are not BMW's...Man I feel like im at the dealership with all those stuffy assholes that think they are the shit because they own a BMW??

Both cars in the video are kick ass. I'd take either of them.....Its crazy that an A4 can beat an M3 with little work but its possible....Technology today is crazy

nah this video is probably true. on the 1.8 you can strap quite a turbo to it now. but if that m3 had boost, there would be no chance.

I don't like racing in a straight line but I had an Audi S3 before and it was tuned to more than 270BHP and more than 360Nm(1.8 turbo)@ 2500+rpm it was 'just as fast' from 0-120mph as my E46 M3 6 speed manual.IRL.

But I blew the 1.8 t engine

This message board is way too politically correct. You guys are like,"Oh, lets not bash another German car" or "isn't it wonderful that all cars are great" or "didn't mean to offend you if you like Audis." Unbelievable!!

Granted, there are cars that can beat the crap out of my 330ci and probably my 335I (on order) as well. I paid up for a bimmer because at the end of the day....It's a bimmer! Not an Evo...Not a Subaru and certainly not an A4 and if you think an A4 is in the same ballpark as a 3 series...learn how to drive!!

P.S. I HAVE built many and worked on many engines. In my experience..1.8t is crap
