Question Anything Bad On 2009 Jetta SE?

any bad things on the 09 jetta se or jetta's in general? after alot of reading (edmunds, car & driver, motortrend, etc) we are going to pull the trigger on this as apposed to a honda civic sedan w/ leather.

i see the car as german engineering, great milage, and great audi based engine. all the reviews agree it will hold value greatly like honda/toyota.

longevity wise i believe it will hold out well.

what do you guys think?

Have had Jettas in the family before, good overall cars. We had a couple electrical quirks with ours about 30k into it, but not an expensive repair and otherwise impressed. I like driving them a bit more than Civics as well.

I've never had a good experience with VW.

I had a MkIV GTI that was a complete basket case, and we had a Jetta and Passat (both TDIs) in my old office and both were lots of trouble. I like the feel of them better than the Honda and Toyota counterparts, but if it were my money, I wouldn't buy one.

I've got 8k miles on my '08 SE and runs like a champ...without a doubt this is a better choice than the Honda Civic sedan.

Good thing about the '09's is that all maintenance is free I believe, heard it on the radio, I'm sure it's on their website too.

Not nearly as reliable as the Civic, but not as boring either. A bit bland in the styling department and the interior is, eh. But so is the Civic.

Honda for the appliance factor and the Jetta for the driving factor.

And, of course, now your Mom will be mistaken for a sorority girl

Last October I purchased a 09 Jetta TDI with the new clean diesel for a commuting vehicle. As of today it turned over 34000 km. Just took it in for the 15k Maintenance and the 30K maintenance. Not a single problem so far. For the mileage I get about 1000-1100 km on a 55 liter tank its great for the long trips I make every week. I have heard of the problems ranging from electrical to mechanical on the MK4 models but so fare all I have to say is good things about the MKV's
