I got very close, but they said at my age (42) I'd be needing bifocals soon, so I'd lose the contacts and get reading glasses if they fixed both eyes. The other option was to fix dominant eye for distant, leave teh left for reading. Problem is I want to see as clear as poosible out my left eye when driving my motorcycle . . . so i still have contacts.

I got Lasik done in 2006 and consider it to be the BEST investment in my life.
The procedure was over in (<)10mins and i was able to see clearly immediately. I paid around three grand for both eyes. |

I had it done in 2006 as well. The only discomfort I remember was it felt like sand was in my eye on the drive home following the procedure. But I immediately went home and took a nap and by the time I got up, it was almost gone. It did not hurt, just felt awkward. The only other thing I remeber was going totally blind when the doc pulled flap back to allow access for the laser, then the smell of the laser burning my eyeball...that was freaky. Again, no pain tho.
I'd recommend it 100%. No regrets at all. My dad and mother had the procedure shortly after they saw how mine went...why was I the guinea pig? Oh, I believe it ran $1500 an eye. And I had 20/15 vision afterwards. Do it. |

I am waiting just a bit longer until my eyes stop developing.
I am -7.50 1.25 in each eye so I absolutely cannot wait to get it done. With my contacts I am 20/15 though.

I got it done about 8 yrs ago. I think back then it was around 3k. It's well worth the money for having good eyesight. Don't cheap out when getting a qualified person who knows what they are doing. From my understanding, any eye docter can get a laser machine and do the surgery. Do research and find out how much experience your docter has with lasik. Also, my eyes only bled for about a week before it was fully healed and I could see.

i just got it done last august, and its the best thing i have ever done by far...ive heard all the horror stories and all that shit but i had terrible eyes and had worn contacts since i was 12 (i was 23 when i got it done) it doesnt hurt and by later that night i could see perfectly, your night vision is a little off at first (halos around lights) but that only improves over time, mine took like 2 weeks to get back to normal...whenever anyone asks about it i always tell them to do it, its worth the money and in my opinion very safe.
dont try to find the cheapest place, research and find the best place, if its a little more expensive than most, who cares, it is your eyes afterall! my prescription was like negative 8 in both eyes, after i got it done my vision was around 20/15 (better than 20/20)

Almost exactly like me! It really sucks not being able to see 6 inches in front of you without contacts.

Whenever I hear of lasik I think of that one video that was posted a long time ago. It's a video of some kind of operation (not sure if it was lasik) in which the top of the eyes was cut and so on. That scared the living daylight out of me so even though I want to consider lasik, I'm having second thoughts.
