If you plan on traking regularly the Elise and can afford the maintaince. Go for it!! I have thought about the same thing, but I think getting the new 335i will be more practical for my everyday use.

Can't sleep either LOL. The Lotus Elise is an amazing car, but not a goood daily driver IMO. They are way to small (im 6'3). If you have a second car that you could use a daily driver definitely buy the Lotus

I drove one a few months ago and my god is it fun. Once you hit 6,500 RPM the engine just screams. You floor it at the apex of a turn and it just pulls you through. As soon as I pay of the 3 I am going to buy one. However, a few things to keep in mind. It is a toy. It is a bare bones road legal race car, and comfort is not really in the Lotus mission statement. It is English, thus expect frequent trips to the dealer to get things fixed. It is expensive to upkeep. $150-200 for an oil change. At 3000 miles, the car you are looking at is 4500 miles from a $400-500 tune up. These are just things to consider, but god it is a fun car.

I know a lot of people insure it as a collector car. This lowers it, but can limit the amount of miles you can put on it per year.

The Elise is a hardcore race/track car to it's bones.
It's definitely does not have any luxury what-so-ever. If that's what you're looking for, get it. But just keep in mind it might not be too practical as a daily driver. |

It is a remarkable track car, but chalk and cheese compared to a 330i. You have to drive it and see if it will fit in with your life. |

There was a turbo Elise on ebay about a month ago for around $48K with very low mileage, upped the car into Enzo-like status in power-weight...
The only thing I can say bad about the Elise is that it is strictly a toy, more like a motorcycle than a car in terms of everyday use. Sure, some people ride cycles to work, but would you? |
