PayPal protection for Seller
hey everyone,
question regarding Paypal. have bought alot of stuff using Paypal but selling only a few times. so question is how protected is it for sellers? lets say if i was to sell something using paypal, and have shipped the item out already, is it possible for the buyer to retreive the payment after i received it into my paypal? is that happens, what should the seller have or do? i am trying to sell something but i am worried about a buyer that has only 1 post (name won't be mentioned, no offense to buyer). although the item is like for $20 but instead of being cheated i would rather just donate it, so please help me out.

sellers got pretty much 0 protection. buyer is king.
if they don't like it, they submit a claim and paypal refunds their money... after closing sellers account. wtf are you selling for $20 that is so bad, that you afraid that buyer wont like it? i would not sell it, if you suspect its not what buyer wants....

seller always loses with paypal... all the buyer has to do is call up their credit card and dispute. I lost $1200 like this and the SOB buyer kept the goods.

I am copying and pasting this from a forum post I made on a business forum back in 2006. I can't believe I found it; gotta love Google!
EDIT: just read below. Open an account specifically for your PayPal transactions. Drain it weekly. Do not keep more than $500, or whatever amount you deem necessary. Last edited by MontegoGoGoGo; 04-23-2009 at 04:54 PM.. |

You are at a disadvantage if you are selling outside of ebay. It is very hard to qualify for PayPal's seller protection if you are not selling within Ebay. I'm using Google Checkout now which protects you 100% of the time if you following the rules.
