When is the Infiniti M50 coming out??

Last year Infiniti released the FX50 SUV and it's a rocketship for an SUV
0-60 in 5.0
1/4 in 13.6 @ 104

That's a mere car length or so behind a stock 335i.

Now I figured the 2009 models of Infiniti's midsize car the "M" would get that engine, but it hasn't.
So I'm figuring it will be for 2010.
Consider this, the FX50 is 718 pounds heavier than the M45

So with the same engine and 700 lbs less weight the M50 would surely do the 1/4 in the low 13's @ 110 mph range.
That would whole heartedly kick the 550i's butt for many thousands less.

Weird they also didn't give the M35 the 3.7 liter for 2009 and make it the M37, guess that's also coming in 2010.

Anybody hear any confirmation of this?

I highly doubt this car will whole heartedy kick the 550i's butt. By that time it'll have the twin turbo 4.4L V8 from the current X6 xdrive50i, which weighs over 5000 lbs and posts better numbers than the FX50.

Isn't the intinify M35/45 due for replacement soon? Maybe they're holding off 'til then.

The updated 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 were brought into the G and FX respectively because both models were beginning a new generation. The M has already had it's mid-cycle facelift (2008), so I doubt they will update the engine choices until the next-gen M comes out. My guess is the new M will come out in late 2009 as a 2010 model with the 3.7 and 5.0 engines choices. A hybrid powertrain is also rumored.

There was a article reporting a mild V6 hybrid being made for the Infiniti M. It might be similar to the hybrid design made for the Cayenne with the new S4's supercharged V6.

According to Car and Driver, Infiniti is readying a direct-injection system for its 3.7-liter V6 and plans to implement it on the refreshed G37 coupe and sedan before the redesigned G arrives in the next three years. A variant of the twin-turbocharged, 3.7-liter direct-injected V6 originally shown in the Essence concept will likely appear in the redesigned M – due in 2010 – and will reportedly put out between 340 and 350 horsepower, but it will not be fitted with the duo of turbos.
And dont worry about the 5.0 V8 ousting BMW....BMW will replace the 550's engine with the new 4.4 V8 as miktrebla09 pointed out.

+1 on the twin turbo V8....That engine is a monster (450lb/ft of torque) BMW will retain it's edge
