Full Metal Jacket.
The first half of that movie is amazing.

But I agree, FMJ is definitely one of the better war movies. We We Soldiers was pretty forgettable. I would rank "saving private ryan" "letters from iwo jima" and even "platoon" over that. Decent movie, though. |

That said, I had the pleasure...and honor...of having LTG Hal Moore come speak to my Infantry Officer Basic Course. Such wisdom, courage, strategy, and bravery I have never seen. My only beef with him was that he spent a full 30 minutes railing on William Calley and the My Lai situation (I refuse to call is "massacre" as that was the concocted annotation by the media). I understand why he did it, but we weren't having a block of instruction on ethics, integrity, and the Geneva Convention. He went off topic and stayed there for way too long. But I digress (how ironic). LOL Anyway, no doubt about it, Harold Moore was a bad ass. They don't make them like him anymore. That's one hand I was proud to shake...and one officer I was honored to salute.

I was being sardonic. I think FMJ is the better film, the reviews I posted indicate most critics agree. However, individual preference of course trumps whatever any critic might have to say.
