Advice Request - TV, Furniture, New Apt
Ok so I'm moving into a new apartment in a couple days. The place I currently live in is fully furnished so I don't have anything besides clothes, computer, xbox. I am looking to initially buy a bed, couch, and TV. I am looking for any and all advice...Where to buy TV, couch, bed. Which TV to buy (I want a big full HD one, whats the best price, etc.) What about rent-a-center? Best buy? Ikea? Sorry this is a pretty broad thread but any advice is appreciated.

Ikea is mostly junk, but will do for a few years if you don't have money now.
Costco.com has a LOT of furniture for pretty cheap and the quality is usually pretty good. YOu can always return it too. |

Antique stores offer old, well-made, real wood, hand-made treasures. While antique furniture isn't cheap it has beau-coup style with awesome patina/character. You probably won't be able to find exactly what you seek, however, ultimately, an eclectic collection will have a singular charm of it's own while yer' pals are slobbering Bud on a chip-board faux-Naugahyde davenport. Wouldn't recommend an antique shop for a TV, for that, Sony flat screen.:biggrin:

I think IKEA stuff is decent so long as you buy one level up from their cheapest stuff. The cheapest level of stuff is always ultra, ultra crappy, but the slightly more expensive stuff can last.
For TV, watch www.slickdeals.net until you see a hot deal on a TV that meets the specs you want. I got a great deal last year on a 42" plasma from Best Buy for $720 stacking a sale with a a coupon. |

Check another best buy or ask to talk to a manager. Coupons also come out pretty frequently with different restrictions -- deals aren't always around when you need them most.
Unfortunately, the quality of the bargain and patience are often correlated. |
