Navigation Map Messed Up
My husband’s Lightning has been at Ford for weeks so he has been using my i5. Yesterday, he was on the phone with AT&T and BMW trying to fix the eSIM issue. I told him that it needs to be done at the dealership, but he doesn’t listen. Now, it looks like the eSIM is under his name instead of mine.
Anyway, I’m not sure what happened but while he was talking to the genius and changing settings, the navigation GPS is now completely screwed. It appears to be off about 10 miles from my location and can’t map a route. Rebooting iDrive several times didn’t fix it. The genius line had no solution to offer other than a reboot. I’m taking it in on Tuesday to be reset, get the recall work done, and hopefully a software update. I’m just pissed that he was messing with my car, just because his loaner is a POS Bronco. |

My car is going in next week for the recall I'm hoping they will flash the firmware to the latest version I think they may have to do that cuz they're changing a component in the vehicle cause I have not received that update yet

The difference is, I just ignored it for a few minutes and it corrected itself. I assumed that it had trouble communicating properly with the GPS satellites and once it established proper communication again, it realized where it was and (with a bit of a red flushed face) corrected itself on the map. Since yours is not fixing itself after some driving, makes it different than my issue. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

I've had this happen as well, but not quite as far as 10 miles away. Not sure how it loses track of where it is, but it did correct itself after a short time.

Today, after driving, it corrected itself. I did get an email from BMW saying that they will fix the eSIM at my service appointment Tuesday when I get my recall work done.

My vehicle now only has one remaining recall item, and that's the one for the brake system. I'll be glad when that's dealt with so I don't have to look at safety recalls anymore (or at least for a while I hope).

Sounds like a GPS bad solution due to too few satellites. This can happen when it loses track of what is supposed to be overhead at your location at a given time (ephemeris), because of hard reset, software glitch, memory failure, etc. It is supposed to have a minimal list to try to warm start given time and last location, but if that doesn’t work, it just iterates over the whole list and tries to figure out by trial-and-error which ones it can see and then work up a solution from those, and that can take a little while.
