Is there anything in particular I need to look out for? It will be my first brand new car and first BEV also. Currently in a g30 530e

Many thanks

Make sure the dealership genius sets up your digital key on your phone and maybe add the free charging contract to the car if that applies in your case/country.

Congrats! My i5 was my first BEV too. Beyond the size of the car (get used to using the camera button in the center console to give you the 360 degree parking view), I’d say be aware of the difference in driving in B vs D. B will feel quite abrupt at first but it becomes quite comfortable/intuitive to use. If you use D after driving in B mode for a while it’ll feel like you’ve got a runaway on your hands when you lift off the go-faster pedal ;-)

Physical: Do a thorough walk-around of the car. Hopefully they have it indoors for this as they did mine. Look closely for any scratches or dings. Make sure you pass your hands over the underside of the rockers to make sure it didn't bottom out on the truck. Inspect all the Piano Black. Make sure there is a key in the car for the Wheel Locks. Basically inspect everything.

Operational: Make sure your profile is set up. It helps if you have a MyBMW account set up already and you can just scan the QR code in your car's IDrive screen into your phone and establish yourself as owner. Make sure Android Auto or Apple Car Play work, and the GPS works. Any other apps as well. Make sure everything works, seats can be adjusted correctly etc. From what others with BEV's say, make sure the charging door opens and closes smoothly. Go through the screens and set everything up, including the communications agreement.

It's important to keep it business and not emotional. Yes, you will be excited to get your new car. Yes, it's beautiful and you can't wait to drive it. Don't let your spouse or significant other's impatience cloud your judgement. I had to warn my wife ahead of time not to rush me, because it was going to take at least an hour or two (Including the signing paperwork), because in her opinion it should be just walk in, get the keys, sign the paperwork and set everything else up later, at home.

My dealer was completely lost with the latter, I eventually figured it out myself--for a 2025 i5 the code is the (productioncode)-25 for the Electrify America offer

Fellow UK Touring driver here!

Have your BMW ID setup and the BMW app downloaded and logged in before you go, as others have said, makes it easier to setup your car.

Hold down the "set" button on the steering wheel to turn off the annoying speed limit warnings, i only leave them enabled for long journeys where i don't know local speed limits.

The pan roof caught me out, if you press it back once it opens to the size of a "normal" sun roof, i thought it was broken, you have to press and hold the button for a short time to get it to open completely.

Locking wheel nut was under the floor of the boot on mine.

Get some microfibre cloths, finger smudges on all control surfaces are annoying at times....

Make sure they've given you mats, i got 2 sets, one from the lease company which are a bit rubbish, but the genuine BMW one's fit nicely but i'm saving them for when it's a bit drier in the uk....

Set your seat position and then save it to number 1 by pressing and holding the number on the door. It will also save to your profile, but i like to keep it on there in case anyone else jumps in and changes the seat position. You can make the seat slide backwards/forwards for comfort exit/entry, it's an option in the seating app i think.

The nearside mirror will dip for reversing or not, depending on which mirror button in the door handle you have selected, left mirror button for no dip., right mirror button for dip.

Download the BMW Guide app and tell it your model, it's the instruction manual and you can find loads of good info in there.

Download Zapmap, great for finding charging points. I also have a folder full of other charging apps on my phone, charge scotland, Tesla etc etc

In case your genius is new, or still learning, make sure you buckle your seatbelt when you're in the car setting things up. Certain setup activities won't work properly if the seat belt is not buckled up, even if you're not planning on moving anywhere.

Also go on Youtube and watch some of the videos for setting up stuff in your G60. They are pretty good and informative. Also if you set up more than one phone in your car with digital keys, make sure you go in to the devices menu and make yours primary.
