I just took delivery of my i5 xDrive40 and hadn't been aware that there are some things locked behind post-purchase microtransactions.

$50 for welcome animations? $220 for parking features?

Are any of these really worth it? I feel if they were just options for the car I wouldn't have cared, but the fact that they were costs hidden until after the fact is a little embarrassing

The parking option upgrades parking assistant "plus" to parking assistant "pro." This adds the remote control parking option as well as the ability for the car to self park with only parking lines. The "plus" level requires cars parked on either side to self park. I believe it also allows recording a longer path for the car to drive automatically (e.g., into a garage, etc.). The welcome animations are options for more elaborate welcoming lighting animations when you approach the car.
