Remote control parking

I tried the manual remote control driving in my 550e and can’t seem to figure out how to turn the wheels. I watched several YouTube videos and I must not be turning my phone properly or something else is wrong. I was in an empty parking lot first and thought maybe the lines were the issue so then I went to our culdesac and still no real steer control. Can some explain if the wheels actually turn significantly or is it just subtle adjustments?

In mine, you have to make subtle movements turning your phone while keeping it flat. It is not a full lock to lock turn ability. However, if you just tell the car to back out of the spot, and it shows a path, it will follow that path with no intervention as long as you have your finger on the button.

I have been trying to activate the 3-month Parking Assistance Pro since February 4th, and it hasn't been finished activating it yet. I will call BMW tomorrow and try to get them to activate it and after that I will try the remote parking, too.

Yeah, maybe reboot IDrive and try again. I started with the free trial, then just went and bought the full, forever version a couple months later. Both times it activated right away.

Stupid question... how do you reboot the iDrive? On the G30 and the previous ones I was keeping the radio volume button pressed but now there is no volume button except from the scroll close to the controller.

I believe you hold down the volume scroll button for 70 seconds.

Correct. You press down on the volume roller. You can either time it for the 70 seconds. Or I actually hold it down until the ambient lighting shuts off. Then release it and press the start button.

This seems like a first, where the manufacturer actually admits to software hangs and instructs the owner how to reboot in a how-to video. I think previously, the procedure is always a service/diagnostic backdoor that was leaked by a tech and then went into circulation the web.

I’ve had some hiccups that even that didn’t fix. I couldn’t open the charging door and rebooted multiple times, which now makes a lot of sense with the video saying it only reboots the CID.
