Looking to book a 2026 F1 Trip, have a few questions

Good afternoon all,

Wife and I went out to dinner Friday night for Valentines Day and we had the chance to really discuss what we want to do next year for our anniversary.

We talked about different things we wanted and if there was anything we wanted to do differently than just lounge all day at a beach resort.

So, what we came up with is, going to Italy next September for the F1 Monza race!! Woooooooo!

Well, hopefully. Need to wait and see what the 2026 F1 racing calendar looks like first. Only issue with that is, I can only go out until middle of January 2026 to book flights to Milan and I have to book my companion ticket with Delta by 8/31/2025. So I am hoping I will know the F1 schedule by then and the flight schedule is pushed out until end of Sept 2026. Fingers crossed on that one for sure!

I know there is another Italy race earlier on in the season at Emilia-Romagna which is usually in the middle of May. That might be a possibility if the Delta companion ticket becomes a challenge.

It has always been something we truly want to do and have talked about doing something like this for the past 3 - 4 years.

So, if anyone has stayed in Milan, Italy or close to the Monza race track...please give any info you have on places to stay, where to eat and drink, what to do....etc.

Wife said she wants to do it right...which only means...$$$$. lol!

What is everyone's thoughts on the Emilia-Romagna race instead of the Monza race in September?

From doing my research, Bologna, Italy has a lot more to offer than Milan does outside of the race weekend.

We plan on renting a car and venturing out and exploring.

That used to be called the San Marino GP at the Autodromo Enzo et Dino Ferrari track, I was there ages ago and enjoyed standing with the tifosi at Tosa. I came in my own car from the holiday resort Viarregio on the west coast and stayed at the Garden Hotel there which is said to be haunted if you're into the supernatural
Temps are around 21C in May and more for a relaxing stay here than say Milan where you'll be racing around shops, places of interest etc.

Thanks M5Rick! We plan on exploring as much of Italy as we can while we are there. We plan to be in Italy about 3-4 days before Friday and leave the Wednesday after the race on the Sunday. So it should give us plenty of time to explore.

Is there more to do in Milan or Imola? We love to drink wine and enjoy the scenery. We don't have any issues driving anywhere to explore or to visit certain things.

Also, this is all assuming both of these races are still going to happen in 2026.

Personally if I were you I'd choose Monza and you could then cycle around the legendary old circuit used in some films then have Milan at your disposal for the wife to spend time trying on the latest fashions $$$
If you have time you can always take the train to places like Pisa (leaning tower) and even Rome (Vatican) to extend your visiting scope.

Can’t speak to Milan other than the airport which is a little dated but Como is 45 min away. We’ve stayed at Albergo Terminus. It’s right on Lake Como. You can’t go wrong with anything in Como or Bellagio for that matter. Bellagio is a ferry ride, about 1 hour away, great to visit for the day. If you need more info let me know. Good luck!

Spoke with my wife about going to Lake Como and staying there and she is 100% down for that! I was looking around a little bit at hotels and restaurants...man o man, everything looks spectacular! Thanks for the suggestion!

Anytime. I’m sure you’ll love it in addition to the race.
