New BMW Owner--iDrive issue

I recently bought a used 2016 x1. It's been a great car thus far. However, this morning my display was black and I couldn't get it to boot. I tried holding the volume knob and that didn't work. I saw on another site where it would probably resolve itself after going to sleep for a good while.

Is this true? Any ideas would be appreciated.

yes, this is an issue with the x1 and x2 could be issue with retaining power after its shut off, these seem to have issues with the 12v batteries. get ready to replace something XD
