I am surprised i couldn't find any information on this but is there no one who scrapes their under carriage when reverse parking into kerbs?
Am I the only one? It's not even a high kerb. Just normal roadside kerbs that are 3-4 inches tall. There seems to be a metal plate that cuts out under the body in the middle of the car that touches kerbs if u reverse all the way.

I also bottomed out a couple of times in places where G30 used to pass without any issues

I no longer park all the way in when backing up or going forward. I always try to stop before any portion of the car gets to a curb. The only exception is if I know it's an extra low curb (most around here are not).

I learned this the hard way after parking front first into a parking spot at a plaza where there were wood chips on top of the curb. When I got out and looked at the car, I could see that the front lower section of the bumper was completely pushed into the wood chips and dirt. Just by luck, there was no damage to the car, but it was then that I realized my car sits much lower than my old pickup truck, so I vowed not to ever park closely like that again and take any chances. :-)

I just damaged the black rubber piece that attaches to the bumper going over a strip in a parking lot. Looks like an easy replacement but need a way to get under the car. I will probably have the dealer install it since they can place the car on a lift. Luckily the alignment of the car does not seem to be affected.

I can tell you from years of driving sports cars that you should never park with any part of the body over curbs or curb stops. Why do you think that every E30 318i you have ever seen is missing the black bottom lip of the front air dam spoiler? Bet you didn’t know it even came with one. Because it was ripped off the car from backing up after parked up over a curb stop.

Use whatever cameras your car provides to come up close to curb or curb stops but do not park over them. If the space doesn’t fit your car without doing that, find another space.
