BMW of North America to use Tesla Supercharger Stations in 2025

I just got a letter in the mail from BMW indicating the following.
In a continued effort to provide the best possible electric vehicle charging experience for our customers, BMW of North America announced that drivers of BMW Combined Charging System (CCS) battery electric vehicles (BEV) will gain access to designated Tesla Supercharger stations in 2025. We are currently working with high priority on enabling the full Supercharger Network accessibility in the vehicles and respective myBMW App and developing BMW-certified ACS adapters.
It goes on to describe the types of ports and connectors and to make sure you use the right ones for safety reasons. It also states that BMW will notify me when BMW-certified NACS adapters become available.

It's my first official communication about it from BMW. Anyone else received this letter?

Many on iX forum also receiving the letter. The main focus seems to be emphasizing not to use unapproved adapters, etc.

The big question will be - do you need to carry around a adapter(if so, how quickly can you get one) or will the Tesla stations already have some/all their individual "pumps" with them (and if so, how long will that take?)

Tesla "magic dock" superchargers open to all vehicles already have a built-in adaptor as of now. The restricted superchargers that only allow onboarded non-Tesla vehicles require you to BYO adapter.

From what you’ve said it sounds like a liability mitagator. BMW wants to remind you wait for the official BMW NACS adapter, which is part of the usage agreement with Tesla for allowing BMW vehicles to charge at Tesla stations. You’re not supposed to use a non-BMW provided adapter for a BMW vehicle, even though you can.

If you damage your BMW with a non-BMW adapter, BMW warned you in advance not to.
If Tesla threatens to drop BMW vehicles from superchanger stations because of non-compliance, BMW warned you in advance not to do that.

Might be limited to a small subset of stations that have longer cables!

Unless BMW provides us with a dongle.

We have the official adapter for our Lightning. Never used it because the Superchargers are made for Tesla. The cable is short and the charge port on the Tesla is near the tail light. A BMW would need to park sideways and take up 3 spots, just like the Lightning, Mach E, and most every non-Tesla. When the new 400v chargers open, they will have longer cables.

I watched an interview with Ionna (BMW, Mercedes, Kia, Hyundai, Honda, GM, Stellantis, Toyota) who have started building their 400v chargers with CCS. They plan on adding 30,000 chargers in 5 years. Tesla has 28,000. Ionna is repurposing old gas stations. Each station will be individually operated by a local company to provide mom & pop restaurants with local food. It’s to provide a different experience at each station that they call Chargeries. I can see people just driving to different ones just for the food. I think they should have tokens or something that you could collect, sort of like state quarters.

I believe the subset of stations means any v2 or v3 (whichever is the latest) stations. Those are the only ones capable to charge other brands like Ford today. Not sure it has anything to do with the cable lengths.

Lol. I remember collecting decals from every state we went through back in the 70's on road trips. In the Navy I used to collect spoons from every country I visited.

The first one near their HQ in NC is a locally famous old gas station. Not all will be old stations. They're opening several this month which are listed on their website.

They use Aptronic dispensers which are modular for easy repairs and are all 400Kw.
