TopicNew BMW Delivery Tips: Checklist and Common Issues

Hello everyone!

First of all, congratulations to everyone who has already received their new cars! 🎉 And to those still waiting—may your delivery day come soon and be smooth.

I’m reaching out to ask for your advice and experience.
What does your checklist look like when receiving a new i5? Are there any common issues or things to watch out for during the handover process?

Would love to hear your tips, plans, or anything you’d recommend checking.
Let’s share and help each other out!

Looking forward to your insights. Thanks in advance!

Look underneath the car to make sure they did not damage anything in shipping from what I hear. The delivery person, and my wife, thought I was being weird when I got down on hands and knees to look under the car in the delivery bay. Lol

These are probably not wide-spread issues worthy of checking on delivery, but they are the only two things I found wrong with my i5 when I took delivery. They are as follows (and I didn't notice either of them until later, and went back to have them fixed under warranty).
  1. There was a sharp edge on the iDrive controller knob. Make sure you turn the controller knob a few times and feel all around it to make sure there are no sharp edges. Of course, if you have the crystal knob, then you don't have to worry (mine was non-crystal and has the metal band around it).
  2. The light in the driver's side sun visor didn't work when the cover was slid open to reveal the mirror. You may want to check both sun visors to make sure the lights work.

One thing mentioned by another owner was to check the windshield glass for scratches. They had a vehicle that sat at the port for a long time and clearly, someone turned them on while it was caked with mud, dirt and debris.
