Should be able to get closer to 10% off a 540 before incentives. So like 7500.
However, if you think the trade in value is making some of that difference up then you might still consider this deal.
In isolation to the 540 only, it is not a good deal.

I’ve done these packages a lot over the last 2 years. It’s not always about finding the dealer who gives you the highest msrp discount bc a lot of the time those will give very bad trade in values. Its finding the dealer who does well on both that the combined deal will be best.

In an ideal world you treat as two separate transactions and maximize both but when forced to trade in for any reason you are bit handcuffed

Document fees of $800? Yikes. Unless you are in a state with crazy high fees, they are padding the bill.

Let me guess Passport BMW?

As others have said, deal isn't great. Brokers are doing 11-12% off MSRP plus eligible incentives at buy-rate MF on 540ix leases. If CarMax is giving you what you want for the trade, jump ship on the old one at CarMax and grab a better deal outright on a one-way new lease transaction. These 2-way deals are always mediocre at best. If you are looking to finance as it appears you are, the equivalent finance terms to the attractive lease deals will also be honored (ie. 1.99% APR)

I believe Passport is a dealer the brokers use. So if so, - they should get you a lower discount. Just ask. Tell them you know about the leasehackr market.

I agree $800 for doc fees is ridiculous. My doc fees from my purchase two days ago was under $250.

The doc fee is negotiable, but the dealer is charging the maximum allowed in Maryland.

https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsi...archived=False

The average doc fee in California is only $85 but we get the joy of paying outrageous dmv registration fees to make up the difference.

I have looked recently, and it is more difficult to negotiate a 540iX, simply because they are limited production, dealer's get small allocations and with stop sales and productions issues, they are hard to get.

Yes, that’s exactly what they told me yesterday… they even showed me allocations in MD, VA and PA and they are very very limited!

Here's one that been on the lot for 10 days. No B&W but might be a good compromise unless you want to wait forever to take delivery on an order.

https://www.bmw.sunmotorcars.com/new...a0240bc90c.htm

Here's a 2024 that has been sitting for 235 days in CA.

Just a quick point on the trade in. In my state (NY) the trade in value is deducted from the sales price to calculate sales tax. The tax in my county is 8.625% so for example if you are trading in a car that carmax says is 20,000 and the dealer is offering 19,500, you are better off with the dealer because you are getting $1681 off the sales tax. Not all states work this way, and obviously each transaction has to be separately analyzed.

Yes, Alte, that’s also how it works in Maryland. The dealer is giving me $500 less than CarMax but saying you’ll get a lot more in tax saving. MD tax is 6%.

BS... ask for 10% and treat the trade-in and the car you are buying as separate transactions when you negotiate with them.

Go to Carmax, Carvana, or whoever gives you more for the trade, and come back with the offer to your dealer.

I managed to get an allocation for a 540i in status 112 on a Saturday which moved to production on the following Monday.

So, BS, as I said. BMW is hungry to sell them right now after they had so many issues with them. You should be able to find an allocation.

Thanks to everyone who posted about my earlier deal. I was able to go to another deal and got a much better deal, as follows:
  • Instead of $3k off MSRP, the new discount is $6,500
  • They will match CarMax for the Trade
I think I did good and will be moving forward. As many mentioned earlier, I can do better through a broker but I’m OK for now Now the wait begins

brokers

Im still curious to know who these Brokers are that can get better deals than a dealership offers??
Earlier this year I searched the country for 2 months and could only find 2 cars with the specs. i wanted and nothing was being produced at the time I was shopping. Multiple N.East dealers wouldn't budge on their $2k off msrp. and $500 doc. fee. as the only options for discounts. I end up flying out to the dealer who had it for 11 days on their lot as they offered another $1500 as a loyalty owner and I drove away with it.
Next time I would like to go into this with a better understanding of how to get similar deals as some have mentioned here.

If you’re willing to build than your options are endless with brokers. It sounds like you wanted it now and had a very specific option list. If true, brokers would have not helped you. You are still stuck to their dealers inventory and given there were 2 in the county I doubt you landed on one of their dealers.

got it, thanks. Ya I did order one but both dealers screwed me over in the process so after a few months I had to go buy something.
Is there a list of brokers to choose from for next time?
