I hate runflats

Literally every car I've had ship with runflats dating back to 2016 has had some sort of issue. My Mini is the most recent victim to runflats. I COULD just replace the one tire, but chances of repeat issues seems to be high. So I'm replacing all 4 tires with non runflat PS4 tires.

It does not look like you ran it on a flat surface.

My runflats are fine. Not too grippy, but they tolerate abuse as they should: punctures (presumably deliberate ) and overpumping (a tire shop worker installing my new winter runflats for the last but one winter pumped the left side ones as I said and the right side to the maximum allowed: I couldn't believe my eyes when changing wheels for the next/last winter, I thought my manometer failed ).

I live in the midwest - it's nothing but flat surfaces

Life is too short to run AS or runflats in the summer.

I run Mitchie PS All Season 4's on all my Bimmers and never have even come close to sliding them at speeds way in excess of street legal speeds. Even in 100 deg. F. temps.

If you see it this way, a sudden puncture of a regular tyre can make it even shorter.

Run flats??? You never upgraded your tires?
The first mod on my list of mods when a get a new BMW is to get rid of the run flat tires. Instant 5hp gain per wheel
How often do you get a flat? I can`t remember the last time I had a flat tire.
I don`t understand BMW/Mini with the run flats from the factory. Porsche`s don`t come with run flats from the factory.

To be fair the Mini is my beater car - so I didn't want to spend a ton of money on it anyway - but these runflats have to go.

When I had run flats on my 1er, they were absolutely miserable. Slight imperfections in the road would cause huge shockwaves into the car. Enough of this happened where it was causing warping/trueness issues with my 261 style wheels.

You probably know this but for those that don't, make sure the tire shop you go to understand how to remove runcraps off your wheels without damaging them. I ran into this issue with Costco.

I've never seen a puncture cause a tire to explode or anything like that. Punctures usually are slow leaks, and hardly something that will cause you to have a life ending crash.

Yeah runflats are a no go for me.

Every single one of my street-driven cars immediately gets PS4s swapped on if they didn't come factory. It's a non-negotiable. Kinda like the PPF weirdos who drive straight from the dealer to the wrap shop, my first order of business is putting the car on PS4s. I simply don't care to drive on any other tire.

Switching back to a non-run flat from a run flat after a decent amount of miles is such an eye opening experience.

Run flats are the biggest pieces of shit on earth. Not for the reason OP posted. The ride quality is just such ass and so is the noise.

Unless it is a newer thing, no M3-M4 had run flats!

Hate runflats, but I'm a cheap bastard, so not tossing tires with loads of tread left. But when the B'Stone Drive Guards wear down, straight into some PS4 AS!

Like Strada, I don't like wasting tread depth unnecessary nor do I abuse the hardware. I have found however on a staggered setup, the rears wear at a ratio of 2:1 to the fronts. I like to speed. I prefer to carry speed through the corners, which where I live is about every 175 feet or so.
