Driving shoes
This might be a retarded questions/survey..but do you guys feel that the thickness on the sole on your shoes play a difference in the driving/pedal feel? The reason I am asking is because, usually when I wear my Puma or vans with thin sole, I feel like I can feel the power and control the brake/acc pedal better then when I have to wear my thick sole Doc. With the thick sole shoes, I feel like I have to press the gas more just to get the car moving..weird

well, there are shoes for tennis, boxing, running, jumping, and DRIVING...all each serving their own purpose and designed in respect to what they are made for, in this case, driving. and you are correct there is a VERY big difference with the thickness of soles and driving properly. I for one love driving in puma's. not only can i make shifting smoother (because i feel the friction point easier) but i like the feel (vibration) of the pedals, it makes the connectedNESS of being one with the car "so to speak" and match that with the feel through the shifter knob and through the steering wheel. and it almost makes me want to go drive right now!

FTW. Not driving shoes, but they feel and fit like them and they're a lot more durable for daily use.

To answer the original question, I really like driving with thinner soled shoes and think it definitely does improve pedal feel. I have a pair of Adidas Tuscany's that I really like.
Similar to these but black and suade. I don't wear them all the time though. My thicker soled shoes are fine for driving even though they're not quite as nice. The only shoes I have that a really don't like driving in are my mountaineering boots. The full steel shank and super stiff leather pretty much remove any hint of pedal feel.

I agree that thinner soles give you a better feel. Being a shoe whore, I have three pairs that are great for driving:
Puma Speed Cat Adidas Monaco Piloti DTM The best shoe depends on your foot, your style of driving, and believe it or not, the pedal arrangement. For example, the Pilotis felt too wide for heel-toe shifts on Porsches. I wind up wearing my Pumas the most because they're the newest. |

DC Driving Shoes
Check out these, they are actually comfortable and have some style...great for casual driving. If you need a serious shoe, then you might have to step up from the DC Chicane to the DC Pro Spec's (below) For more info check them out here http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/i...cturers_id=344 |
