Have had my M60 since last December and it has been flawless. That is, until last week when out of nowhere, carplay stopped working.

Bluetooth continued to work fine. When I went in to enable CarPlay under settings in the I5, it came back and said to ensure it is enabled on my phone.

Check the phone. It is indeed enabled.

So, turn off Bluetooth and repair. No change. Delete phone and add. No change.

Finally I reset I drive (hold down volume knob) after deleting the phone and once rebooted, I added my phone and it all worked.

Until I went to turn on the car 20 minutes later and I am back to square one.

Anyone experience similar issues? Saw on the i4 board that there were some issues with idrive 8 late last year before the 8.5 upgrade.

Very minor issue but I am lazy and like my
carplay.

Edit: phone is an iPhone 15 pro running 17.5.1.

I know a few folks have had CarPlay issues but I don’t recall seeing anything like this. I’m running a 13Pro on 17.5.1 with my M60 and it’s been fine through OTA updates to the car and iOS updates to my phone. I will occasionally see that it takes a few minutes to make the CarPlay connection, but I’ve not had your situation arise.

Good luck. For me it's still a crapshoot if it works from one drive to the next. Has never worked for long in mine. Along with other features. If you take it in be prepared for them to tell you they need you to leave your phone for them to diagnose. I kid you not.

Mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. I use the BMW nav. If my music stops streaming, then I switch to Sirius XM.

See, but it shouldn't be that way. Apple Car Play and Android Auto are not NEW technology. They have been around for about a decade. I have been driving a rented Toyota 4 Runner for 3 weeks while I am in the states on business. Android Auto has worked flawlessly. I took a weekend in Orlando a couple weeks ago to see family, and the Audi A5 I had rented the Android Auto also worked flawlessly. Now I am not an Iphone guy. (My wife loves it. But she is not going to be the primary driver on my 540i when it gets delivered. For now she says she doesn't even like it. We'll see.) So I can't speak to Car Play. Has this been happening to Android users as well? Or just Iphones?

in my i5 M60 the apple carplay has worked flawless. connects instantly everytime. (hope this not a jinx)
yet in my 23 Porsche 911 connecting to carplay is slow and does not connect with my having to touch the PCM.
yet on my last 22 Porsche 911 carplay connected fast and I never had to fiddle with the PCM... using updated iphone 15 Pro
So strange.

I too was wondering if it's a CarPlay thing - seems like the issues that have been posted here are more with CarPlay than Android Auto.

For me, I use Android Auto, and rarely have a connection issue. When I do have one, it is usually solved quickly on its own, or sometimes I have to accept some permissions message again and then it works fine.

Yeah Apple carplay has been sketchy for me sometimes it connects right up sometimes it doesn't sometimes doesn't connect at all sometimes it's slow to connect idk

I went through the whole sequence of events twice yesterday morning but also restarted my phone. Worked the rest of the day. Hoping it was just a glitch that never returns.

Surprised to hear how a lot of you have continuous issues.

Mine connects just fine. However sometimes the volume is super-low and I need to turn it up to above 50% to just listen to radio. And then after a few days it's fine again. No idea what causes it to go like that or get fixed...

I have a similar issue. I’ll be listening to a podcast via CarPlay at normal, desired volume but then listen to a text or voice text someone via Siri. When finished and the podcast audio resumes, the volume is drastically lower but the volume level “bar” is where it was before. So I’ll crank it up.

Then if I do a few more Siri commands, the volume comes back blaring.

Have you (or has anyone) found a reason or solution to this?

Having been in and out of a lot of rental cars in the past, I find at least with Android Auto if I'm still having problems after fiddling with the car settings, it's likely on the phone side of things and rebooting it usually fixes the problem more permanently.

The only issue I've had with Android Auto is that if I'm using the car's Spotify app while having Android Auto open, Android Auto will occasionally grab control of the audio away from the car and the music will stop.

Like if I was using Pocket Casts to listen to a podcast, finish it, and switch to Spotify, it's plausible in like 15 minutes Spotify will randomly stop, and looking at my HUD or my gauge cluster the audio source will now be Android Auto listing out the podcast I just finished and not playing anything.
